The story so far...

OSA was born late 1998 and is the work of myself (Butty) and the many people listed further down this page.

At 28 years old and missing out by a whisker on experiencing the early dance music scene my love for the classics began after visiting Maximes - Back To The Old Skool in Wigan.

At the time i didnt have a clue what all these tunes were, but i liked them!. So much so what can only be described as an obsession to know more about this style began.

There wasnt any site catering for these sorts of sounds back then and so i learnt what i needed and made a very simple webpage then called 'Old Skool Alley'.

The aim of the page was to have short clips of tunes id ripped off tape packs, in the hope of someone being able to ID them for me - as you can imagine with the early dance stuff having been and gone and also with the internet being in its infancy the information wasnt really out there as it is today.

And so the site was first formed, i got a few links to the site from the few other old skool sites out there and i began to get chattin to people through e-mail, the tunes i had up would get ID'd and id add the titles to the site and add some more and it just began to grow from there.

This carried on up until around 2001 when whilst wandering around the web i stumbled across a forum was called Compulsion which was a forum for the Bowlers event in Manchester. Forums were pretty much a new thing around that time, i liked how you could go on and leave messages for others and it had sort of a pull to make you want to go back to the site.

I got friendly with a few of the regulars on the Compulsion forum namely Pixie, Tonksi & Old Skooler and thought it was great (and a bit crazy) how they would chat on the net and then hook up at events.

Before i knew it the Compulsion site shut down and so i thought well il stick one of them forum things on my little site id made and see what happens.

I set up the forum early 2001 and this is when i changed the name to Old Skool Anthemz, i let the regulars off the old Compulsion site know about it whom then came on over and started to post on my forum.

And that was that, it amazes me sometimes to look back and think how the site has developed over the years, it wasnt planned - i was just trying to find out the names of some tunes lol.

Its now 2007 and ive been lucky enough to have a decent amount of people help contribute financially to the site by joining the Gold Membership scheme.

This has enabled me to develop the site much more than i ever have been able to before. The aim is to give people a chance to hear tunes that otherwise they may not have the chance to.

Of course this all wouldnt have happened without help from many people over the years who have donated there time and effort into helping the site develop into what it is today.

It goes to show that there is many many people out there who are just as passionate still about the classics, massive respect to all those old skool warriors out there, keep it rolling till the f@cking wheels fall off!!

There are lots of people whom have helped OSA, apologies if i miss anyone out if i do give me a shout and il add you.
