I remember downloading this mix some time ago. The above tracklisting is good many tunes are out of place (and some are in place) so after giving this a pretty thorough listening too here is what I got in what I feel is the correct order - now it's just about filling in the gaps properly.

After listening through again I can't find any probs with the running order (although it's hard to work out what he's doing with the multiple copies of 'Hip Hop').. cheers for the id's, tracklisting is pretty comprehensive now.

One thing... I can't seem to find anything at all about Dee Dee Brave 'I'm Taking You Out' on the net though... is that deffo correct?

9. LNR - Sexual. A slightly different version was released in 1993 (2 yrs. later) with the Reachin EP on HouseJam but cannot track down this exact version. The 93 version is close enough though.

25. Criminal Element Orchestra - What is the Criminal Element (Minimal)

32. Sounds like Chavell Sims on vocals. She has a cut on Jovonn's Raw to the Core EP on Goldtone with very similar lyrics (I'm kicking you out my life"). So my guess is it's Jovonn prior to getting Goldtone Records established.

39. The mix is a Test Press mix only. A similar mix can be found on the Gypsy Woman 8 track CD.

Track 26 is Cookie Watkins 'I'm Attracted To You' not Ann Robinson. You can hear it on Tom Wainwright @ Hacienda, 12 Sept '91. I think Ann Robinson was an old soul singer who did the track 'You Did It' that Fat Boy Slim sampled (or that bitch from TV!). I'm pretty sure its one of the Tony Humphries mixes - I've got both the Smash 12"s at home so I'll check which one it is.

It's not the same version\or mix. I actually have the exact version from this set on an mp3 which was labled Cookie Watkins - I'm Attracted To You (Final Vocal Mix) but that is defo incorrect although the Final Vocal Mix is similar. DoublePromo listed it as Anne Robinson above so I went with that, although I could barely find any hint of it's existance on the net (One page suggested it as a Zanzibar classic, which is where Tony H played). The mp3 I have is 6 mins long and the nearest Cookie Watkins mix in length is the Original at 6:18, so maybe it's that but I can't find it anywhere to check.

Managed to find the Original mix on some Japanese record store's site and it is that.

I've spent the best part of half an hour listening to the Smash 12"s (I've got both) at home and I'm pretty sure its actually the 'Moore Justice Mix'!!!! This is 7:18 long according to the label. The Final Vocal Mix and the Original Mix are both very very similar though. You can just about tell because of the drum rolls (I've played the 12" to the mix and qued it up). Why do all the mixes sound the bloody same!!!

Do you know what... I don't think it's any of em lol! It's very similar to the Original but with extra strings type sounds that are on the Moore Justice and Final Vocal mixes... however those mixes have extra parts to the main backing track running all the way through them that aren't on this set. I reckon it may be an unreleased version of Tony H's from when he was making the Final Vocal mix as it's kinda between the two.

Hah ha, yeah I reckon your probably right.....unless he was playing a combination of all three mixes after each other!!! Identifying a mix has never been so bloody difficult

Lots of mixes of this great track. I have not listened to this mix as of yet but there are at least two other versions running around. One version is on the B-side of a David Cole remix of "Move Your Body" (which I believe was recorded live) on an Orange label. However I think this was done in '92. Another version is probably a demo played by Tony in early June '91 that sounds very similar (but not exact) to the "Move Your Body" B-Side.

As for the singer, supposedly Anne Robinson did the "Move Your Body" B-Side version. If so their voices are very similar. However, the June '91 version is Cookie Watkins as her scat at the end is exactly as the scat on the E-Smooth mix on Smash.

I hate demo versions! I want them but can never get them!
