man, i need to start getting up earlier at the weekend for booties. ain't been to one in yonks.

been lurking over at very good plus recently and some of those fellas turn up some great shit. not many midweek ones i'm aware of around here. there is a thursday boot/market on the way to guildford. might check it tomorrow. summer's comin' so need to get out more. used to kill it when i did cos like you say peeps on osa are looking for different tackle than the usual beatles/stones/floyd grippers'n'flippers.

best find at booties was in aldershot about 5 years ago when i turned up late and some guy had a 2ft high pile of tunes sprawled all over the car park about 4m in diameter. people were rinsing this pile like it was crack. records were out of sleeves and it was carnage. i went back an hour later and there were still '000s of records on the floor. i had a word with the guy and he was properly pissed off (not with me). he'd turned up and opened his van and before he knew it the locusts were all over his stock. he did house clearances and this was from a repossessed flat. obviously some down on his luck student.

anyway, it was getting late and he said anything you can carry away is yours cos i ain't taking any of it back. me and 2 other blokes just dived in. spent half hour rummaging and came away with as many as i could carry. condition was actually VG+/NM on vinyl and covers. loads of mastercuts compilations and 12"s i really wanted. best of all the seller hadn't discussed a price. i had about 150 records in my pile and convinced him i could carry them! almost fell over when he said give us a fiver.

fuck, if i'd known that before i'd have bought the lot and backed me car up! ah well...

had a look through a few chazzas today. completely rinsed out.

had a look in aldershot first. used to be a record shop there but it closed down about 2 years ago. pulled some gems out of there like P Lion - Burn in his hands. aldershot has a carboot on sunday but i was in the main "shopping" area today. scuzzy pubs with smokers outside, plenty of empty shops boarded up, £1 shops, cheque cashing shops and chazzas. there are a few high street names but on the whole it made me feel depressed just being there. real shame cos just over the road (literally) is a new cinema/restaurants/supermarket complex which is buzzing all the time. the town planners have put all their eggs in the basket with this complex to the detriment of the town centre. can't see anyone going from the complex into the town centre because there's nothing for them. real shame.

scooted over to godalming on the outskirts of guildford and the difference could not be more marked. thriving little high street full of independent stores mixed with high street names. only 2 empty stores but one of those was getting refurbed. they also weren't boarded up. a few of the chazzas have gone to make way for new businesses. only 4 left now and they had nowt.

so not really a digger's story, more like one man's take on the shopping experiences available to us in austerity britain. :(

a shot of the label Iv...runout actually reads RPL 939...has RPL 949 on the disc along with PLP 206

It's a very quiet recording and I suspect it's about capturing the ambience of the building as much as anything else, in bloody good nick considering it's gotta be 50 years old. Doesn't state whether it's stereo or Mono and the lack of info is maybe down to the fact that, as u say, it's a test disc and not for resale or mass production, I don't want to contact the Pamphonic webbblers yet...cos they'll be after it for gratis.
That is an export/import stamp as well..lick on stamp type.

I also picked up an Elvis disc..orange label RCA, Spanish press but with no cover...can't find it online yet. The Orange label RCA editions are early and often seem to be more sought after.
