no facebook or twitter for me. then again i'm a grumpy old **** who's lost contact with god knows how many people over the years. if i want to know what they're doing i chat to mates who do all that social stuff and they tell me all the gossip...because that's all it is.

edit: wtf! i can't say ****?

no wonder hardly anyone posts on here. we're all adults. jeez...

This is the thing...no-one is posting cos it just doesn't fit into yer general family grown up life, whether it's deemed childish or family commitments that keep people away from hanging on the forum the social side of chatting and posting is thin to say the least, infact over on PR (not to be confused with RP ) they're streamlining the site to get rid of the shout box and forums, prob thru lack of use...maybe using FB as the shouty is the way forward for getting more "ambient listeners" to lock in for a while at least, I'm just not into playing to 1 or 2 people in the week and then a que of everyone trying to get a slot on the weekend when listening figures go up...fair doo's tho, on the occaisions that the OSA old boys lock in, we have a great time...partic with mix ID's and the like...but without that kind of stimulation and enthusiasm is there any point to live dj's in the week? If no-one is about to even just throw in a random \o/ or CHOOOON...it's like playing to your leg...Maybe if Live slots were allocated from 7 - late...Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun...there would always be a full schedule and thus encourage peeps who want live music, partic the blend of Italo/hiphouse/Chicago and UK stuff that we specialize in over here...That would then free up the auto dj to play the members mixes which are more a blend of all things old school. It's too watered down all mixed up together and, me included in this, there are NO regular slots...the only members that play when they say they're gonna are...Sam, Greg and J1990, I nearly always play on the eve that I'm down for but tend to pick a time that works best with listeners...over on RP or PR, if you ain't there...tough, the slot gets munched up by any number of enthusiastic dj's waiting for a bash...yes, a relaxed attitude is great, and takes the pressure off any performance but it just doesn't make for good, live radio to the standard that people expect when they are giving up their personal time for us.
If we had 2 nights of 1st gen dj's, Popular "club" themed sessions from people, then maybe it would bring back the exclusivity of OSA and free up the rest of the airtime for everyone else, it would also establish a "plan of action" and set a standard for everyone to follow...I wasn't up for going to any old club when I was jumpin'...it had to be the best...and I don't see that it should be any different nowadays, for me anyways.
Also...if you ain't payin' .... then you ain't playin'...how the fk is the Boss supposed to make ends meet without cashflow? Unfair and I should imagine completely head dooing for the bloke.

Pretty much everybody who hasn't replied yet (including admin and all the mods) is using Facebook, so I wouldn't rule out using it yourselves.

For specialised discussions about a mutual interest in something such as old skool, snowboarding or whatever, then a forum or the shoutbox still can't be beaten, at least can't be beaten when forums are more dynamic. Sadly, there's only a few of those dynamic forums about these days. Facebook is the dynamic medium of the moment though, so it's a case of adapt or miss out, unfortunately, so unless you have issues with using facebook then get signed up, while keeping your toes dipped in here

No, I don't use it, I really can't be arsed with it. Thing Is, I don't sit around twiddling my thumbs with bugger all to do, so I just haven't got time to fritter away on FB and shit like that. Plus I don't have mobile that has internet (through choice - it's a phone, it rings and texts, job done and it's that cheap that no-one's gonna mug me for it ;)) so again, I'm not sat about on the phone updating my profile, or whatever other bollocks you're supposed to do.

I quite like the format of forums as you can dip in and contribute to threads when you like (and I can do it at work).

I'm definitely going to be tuning into OSA radio more but I'd deffo be more likely to if there was some sort of a regular schedule for listening to someone playing live. So you were like tuning in to a regular radio DJ. Just having the radio on in the background is not something I do, I'm not really the sort of person who can concentrate on stuff with music playing. So if I'm working on the computer then the radio would be off. For the radio to be on I would have to have tuned in specially to listen to something. Then I'd join in on the shoutbox.

Incidentally, I did put auto dj on the other morning while just browsing aimlessly and totally loved Blackburn Bod's chillout set, got completely engrossed in where he took me phones::thumbsup:

Bang on Stanton old chap...I sacked the internet option on my phone as well, never used it and when I did, it wasn't very good and awkward to use, that's why I got a dongle and a laptop for surfing...and I reckon enough people would have a similar take on a regular, adhered to weekend schedule to really boost the figures... it's not a really groundbreaking idea I know but at least it's worth giving it a shot I think.
Friday Nights only regular for ages is Jack, always good...always cold but always on and quality,
Saturday eve is kept open for Live Broadcast...but it doesn't or didn't work...connection probs/buffering.
I have sooooo many things to listen to as it is, 20+ OSA dj sets that I have downloaded, Ste Hux's stuff, new soundcloud episodes and podcasts etc...and then there is Discogs stock, gotta listen to every record and check if u want top dollar...oh yeah, and then work...and if I don't have enough of listening to all that....I occaisionaly like to have a mix myself, so throw in slots played on OSA, Ravers Paradise and Pirate Revival Radio and I really don't have time to just hang about waiting to see who's maybe playing and would appreciate an accurate list at the weekend when most of the action/traffic seems to happen...and I am single, don't drink, hate everyone outside and only have parental commitments on Frday nights, so wtf is a family bloke/bird supposed to do with an tribe of yard apes to take care of.
Monday Club has been going for months, it's always pukka, Sam (surface2air) kicks it off at 6pm and is quality, quality every single time, great choons, varied styles and periods..but always delivers a great sesh...the shoutbox is always manned by Adz, Reet and myself untill I take over the controls. If I don't start to play straight away, then we listen to a mix from Reet or Adz or Greg (sample_city), cos I miss his sets due to playing on RP at the same time...but none of you know that cos no-one else comes along to enjoy the banter, granted..the regulars and regular drifters pop in to say hi, but it's a right pukka thing we got going and it's a shame more don't join in for some added diversity...they prob might if it was a regular thing maybe.
The webcam feature on other sites is great and deffo adds a new dimension for hanging on the laptop, even tho there is a slight time delay...I enjoyed, no...really, really enjoyed the night Bod and Bernie hooked it up and threw down with their camera device, I know it's not everyone cuppa and some may be a bit shy or whatever, but dj's with good connections could make the effort and try to make OSA shine a bit more however they can, just a view of hands and spinning discs is a good thing, guess the choon...more interaction.
Gotta say, I type as I speak...just an erk off a council estate in the mids..I'm not saying anything other than trying to suggest ways that I think could give more life and longevity to OSA, I like, use and subscirbe to a few old school sites and don't suffer from brand loyalty, I've made some solid friendships almost overnight and really enjoy chatting with like minded people about things we have in common and of course blasting my brain with dopamine as the choonage flows. Even though it's all condensed into a short period it seems to make the rest of my time...better, and I'm a better more charitable and happy chappy for it....remind you of something, maybe the way it was

Good read that Perko  see you can do it. I was actually planning on having a break from Monday club as I was a bit disappointed with my last effort but you've re-energised my feelings on that, cheers. Will stay off the Mic in future. I haven't used facebook for years now and dont miss it and I only just got into this forum as it turned and loads of regular posters drifted off. I lurked for two years.
The changes you suggest would work, most fresh stuff does but the only people that can change out, like Butty, never comes on here. I'd love a new look radio with cam feature and flashing bits but imagine it would all cost a bit to sort out.

Typing this on my phone, fingers getting tired. My phone btw is fucking ace. Anywhere I get a decent WiFi signal OSA goes with me. Just plug into any amp and we're off.

Is he moaning again :moonie:

I can play 6 hour slots if you wont me too lol

I play less now but nerv's still get me but I would like to see more of the big guns play

I have found shouty buzzing on Fridays but understandably in the week its dead

If you set up a rota please leave some open air time for the lesser like me so we can just get the air time in and progress in the dark art of mixing as its intimidating when you try to mix above your level

Unless we have duffers hour :king: phones:

O shit missed the point.... I love fb there is loads of clunge on it
