Following a fantastic year where The Source has brought dance music legends such as Ray Keith, Tango & Ratty, Peshay and many more to the Hare and Hounds, we finish off the year in style with the exclusive return of a bonafide Midlands legend, Keith Suckling and groundbreaking Moving Shadow producer, Deep Blue.

Keith Suckling

If you went to any rave in the Birmingham or the West Midlands area during the early 90’s then there’s a good chance that Keith Suckling was on the lineup. A local favourite, Keith was able to ignite any dancefloor with his seamless mixing and clever tune selection and he soon found himself as a regular at most of the raves that established our local clubbing scene. From the early days of Coast to Coast and the Porsche Club to the legendary Midlands nights such as Time, Starlight, Pandemonium and Quest to name but a few, Keith was a mainstay of the Midlands rave scene as well as releasing the bad trip masterpiece “Deranged” with Doc Scott on Reinforced Records in 1993. After moving on for personal reasons in the mid-90’s, his sets passed into legend and soon found a new following via the Internet but Keith himself remained elusive. Now he’s back and The Source is very proud to host the return of this legend of the local club scene so welcome back Keith, Birmingham has missed you!

Deep Blue

Deep Blue is the Jungle/DnB alias of legendary Moving Shadow producer, Sean O’Keeffe. Beginning his producing career as a member of the legendary 2 Bad Mice and co-writing some of their most memorable tunes from 1991-92 including the seminal ‘Bombscare’, ‘Hold It Down’ and their legendary remix of Blame`s ‘Music Takes You’. In 1993 he began to write and release under the alias Deep Blue and scored instant success with the groundbreaking release ‘The Helicopter Tune’ which reached a credible number 68 in the UK singles chart (as well as appearing some 10 years later on the Playstation game, Grand Theft Auto!). He followed this with a string of releases on Moving Shadow before leaving to help setup a new label, Partisan Records. With further releases on labels such as 31 Records, Good Looking Records and Offshore Records as well as his own Scale Records (with Omni Trio’s Rob Haigh), this talented producer continues to push the sonic boundaries of Drum & Bass.

Add to this residents DJ-X, Gershwin and Glenn Aston and all for just a measley £4, this is a party not to be missed.

In just 2 years, The Source has established itself as THE underground Old Skool night in the Midlands. It’s strict, non ‘anthem-bashing’ music policy and ability to put together lineups containing unusual and rare DJ’s/producers has set it apart from the rest and has seen it become the club night of choice for the discerning raver looking for something different from the other nights with their identikit lineups of the same old DJ’s.

Those of you that have attended the previous Source events with Ray Keith, Peshay, Ellis Dee, Frank De Wulf, 2 Bad Mice, Trevor Fung, Adamski, Nookie, Tango & Ratty, Doc Scott and many others will know what to expect – great music, great people, quality sound and lighting and above all, one fantastic vibe just like the old days!
