parksey, your opinion

Having caused some controversy last week by even uttering Golden Graeme's name, what's your opinion of this UK house icon, arrogant and ignorant or superstar who deserves respect and credibility?

I could be wrong but I have the impression a lot of OSA peeps don't like him after he played loads of mid 90's stuff at a Hazydaze do, when they wanted to him to play 88-90 stuff, and he refused to change his set.

I've only met him once.. at the Hacienda do in Brum the other week. He briefly chatted to me and a mate when we bumped into him in the toilets after his set.. I was too caned by that point to remember what he was like though. Have heard a few tales of him being a bit of a miserable git, but I really couldn't care if he is a complete c*nt, I only want to listen to the music that he play's... which I've always loved.

sounds good to me, the vocal house in 94/95/96 was spot on.

proper sing along anthems and alway used to be filled with Feathered Bra'd hot panted totty lol (calm down Shroom!!!)

seen him DJ hundreds of times at places like Hac, Back to Basic's, up yer ronson, Love to be, Cream, moneypennies, Up yer Ronson & my personal Fav.... Wednesday nights at Eden @ Bellair Huddersfield

occasional a grumpy DJ but it can't be an easy profession (all that money, booze bird and etc)
Alwayys bob on.. used to love His Hac alter ego Tom Wainwright anthoer grumpy legend in his day

for me parksey is king on two fronts, not only was he without a doubt streets ahead of everyone else in terms of mixing in the UK in 88. 89. 90,

but also absolutly fundemental in defing a sound, slick US hopuse and garage that set a template for almost anyone who wanted credibility in 91, 92, 93-.

ive met him a couple of times and he was always spot on, i also like his mid 90's stuff, probably even more than the late 80's early 90's stuff!
also met tom wainwright and found him quite shy & reserved (not what i was expecting)
to sum up both top blokes & legends!

me mate used to have a banner in his living room with 'the tom wainwright appreciation society' on it!!!..and we were!!lol!!

He's a complete bellend imo and plays some of the most wanky music I've ever heard, dull as fuck.

Pickering however, is pure class

I'm guessing you like what he was playing in '88 & '89 though?

Never heard him play back then so I can't comment. My opinion of him is based on when I have heard him play out in recent years (Hac re-unions or other places like Hazy etc)

An example was the NYE Hacienda night with P&P on back to back... Pickering would play some cracking stuff and Park would come on and play Robin S and a load of Garagey boring poncey shite and clear the floor - his arrogance levels are through the roof and he was more interested in making a decent recording for his radio show than acknowledging the crowd.

A complete bell end
