glasto on telly

anybody been watching?
and who's impressed you so far?

i really enjoyed 'the gossip' that beth's got a cracking voice
'candi staton' for doing the intro of 'your love' when she done 'you got the love' altho the bbc edited it out on the repeat today!
the 'foals' for being so different to all the other 'indie' type bands, just d/loaded meself a copy of their album!
also just d/loaded the album by 'mgmt' (the best ive seen so far!), took me back to my progressive rock roots! nice!

Duffy did a semi-acoustic thing outdoors before going on stage which they televised. Just her, one acoustic guitar, on eledctric guitar & percussion.
The sound was stripped right back and fuck me the girl can sing!

Never rated her that highly before. In all the other stuff of hers I've heard her voice got a bit lost in a sea of FX & post production. You always wonder if female singers can really pull it off when they are exposed with no backing & minimal amplification. Duffy was incredible. Big big sound.
I'll be getting her album.

I love Glasto on telly... you always discover something...

Only caught the odd snippet, shame really as I really do like watching the coverage. Always make me wish just a little bit that I was there though

Wouldve liked to have seen that Duffy thing, I think she's got a good voice so I'd have liked to have seen what she could do live and under pressure, so to speak

Is it me or have the bbc cut the airtime right back this year? Only managed an hour last night and friday but especially enjoyed the Kings of Leon. Fair comments about Duffy, she does have a good voice.

Kings of Leon were a revelation.
Sam Sparro singing an Accoustic version of Black and Gold for the BBC.
The Verve sounded about as good as I have ever heard them.
Neil Diamond was Pretty Amazing (spot the gag).
The BBC for their amazing camera work.
The Ting Tings.

Thought Winehouse was terrible and cannot believe they say her set was well received? It was embarrassing and the crowd were muted, that is why she kept verbally abusing them when the failed to respond to her inane witterings. Rather than sing the songs like she used to, she tries to over improvise and over cook them and change the lyrics to mention "Her Blake" every five seconds. What she does not understand is nobody gives a fcuk. In fact she was singing "I would be rather be at home with my Blake, only 17 days to go" when someone supposedly pulled her hair. I reckon someone just told her to Fcuking shut up and quite rightly so.

For the record I think she is an amazing talent, but I'm bored of her now and unlike some critics don't think it's uncool to criticise her. You compare her set with Neil Diamonds working of the crowd. Rant over.

Yeah... Kings of Leon... so fucking talented...
Caught the Verve too... brilliant...

No matter how strung out the Winehouse gets though, I still fancy banging it

Duffy, on the other hand, I could listen to her sing all day long, but she does nowt for me looks-wise. Too plain & bland looking. No character.

Caught a bit of one of the Glasto sofa-banter sessions last night as well, Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe & Phill Jupitus. Had me in bits. All 3 of them are ace. Says a lot that the beeb can put a presenting lineup like that together. John Peel's Glasto legacy is in safe hands.

Aye, Nez was bob on- i love the way his backing singers looked old enough to be getting a free bus pass. We missed the opening two though- which is a shame as Cracklin Rosie is a fave

The only problem was we watched Jaz Singer the day before which is the most stupid film i have seen in ages for many reasons, and that kinda tainted his halo a little.

I only skimmed though The Kings of Leon, but i did watch the whole of 'Fans' which was ace.

Thumbs down for Hot Chip for covering that bloody terrible song. Wtf is 'bubble' btw?
