| aye... have a look about you can sometimes cop these in the sale for buttons. worth getting a brand name though. nowt more infuriating than a fucked hard drive full of tunes which you've not got stored anywhere else.

| For backup you are less concerned about speed and more about space. What about a bit of future proofing for £100: dabs.com - LaCie Desktop HD 1TB 7200RPM 16MB USB2 (301301K) Seeing as you want to "plop" and I'm not sure how far you plan on carrying this plopping activity I'd get the ruler out and see if you are happy with the size ... of the hard ... drive Don't worry, I've already got me coat. That link I posted has these dimensions & weight: Depth 20.8 cm, Height 11.5 cm, Weight 1.8 kg, Width 6.5 cm The reason I mention this is that I bought an external hard drive a few years ago and it is a bit cumbersome so I never humph it about anywhere, as humph is a very appropriate word. If you'll never be generous and give your friends thousands of free tuneage and it'll just sit next to your pc gathering dust whilst acting as an occassional backup, then physical size really doesn't matter. Future proof it is much as possible, as it's worth it.

| The Western Digital My Book World Edition II 1TB is a nice bit of kit as you can set it up on your home network then access it via your wifi round the house and via the internet if your away from home, even if your PC is switched off. (Your router needs to be on though.) |

| LaCie drives are the Michaels. Had a 500Gb one mesen a few months back off Amazon in the sale for 60 notes. External PSU died & rather than fanny about with Amazon returning the drive just phoned up LaCie direct & explained & they stuck a new PSU in the post. Great customer service
