Unhappy What To Do - Need help!

Alreet!

Basically I start Uni again in a week and I am absolutely skint - I owe loads and have nothing saved up from summer from buying vinyl etc.

Should I sell up everything; decks, vinyl and start up again when I can afford it more - because it seems that vinyl is slowly dying out and I could get some CDJ's in a few months and start collecting mp3's etc.

Only thing is I know it will be near impossible to get all the music I want on MP3 with the mixes I want etc and I will miss using vinyl.

I duno what to do and Im proper stressing out now becuase I need to make a decision in next few days!!!

Cheers for any help,

Lawler

If anything...i've always said id sell my equipment first..decks etc..as one set of decks is very much the same as another, whereas its unlikely you could easily get you records back in the same condition, or in some case at all. I know its not an easy decision to make as you'd miss your decks, but these could be quickly replaced as, and when your financial situation improves. Maybe pick out a few tunes that you don't play much that would bring some quick cash without selling the lot. Ed

I worry that Vinyl is dying out and is this the wrong time to be buying it, I just can't help it though!

You could sell you equipment and your least treasured tunes?
You could Rip all your vinyl to MP3 and then sell it?
You could get a part time job, depending on your hours?

Difficult I know mate, I would stop spending and try to earn some cash to be honest.

Good luck, it's a great 3 years!

Hi mate you got fantastic replys there mate!

It's depends what your goals are mate what you are studying for? does it involve music you got to ask yourself what is most important to you! if you feel you have to then but suks then do it but! and i mean but! what are you studying? is it more important to you then owning tunes on vinyl you have to ask yourself this as what you are studying probaly might have nothing to do with your vinyl collection just go with whats important in your life thats the key to your question!

My answer would be go for what you want in life don't let anything hold you back follow you heart mate

yeah, hold off on the vinyl mate, I had similar problems when I was at Uni many moons ago....started to sift through things and sell a few, now that I am more financially stable I regret it.......but thats the way the cookie crumbles.......in the end though I had the problem of Portsmouths best record emporium opening at the end of my second year, so the tunes I was selling, the money was going on other tunes insteead of Iceland Packs of 5 pizzas for 99p........then all of a sudden the little handouts that started to arrive from home accidentally got spent in there on its way to the bank.......what can I say.......it kept me off the streets?!

Thumbs up !

Cheers for all the advice!

Im doing Law at Lincoln Uni; just about to go into my 2nd year.

I think what Im gonna do is sell everything else I have that I dont really need like PS2 etc and kepp hold onto my decks and vinyl if I can. I mean I loved having them with me last year - all the parties we had.

FUCK IT! - You only live once! I may be skint but that'll give me more time on the decks!

Cheers again for the help,

Lawler

Sell you law books. You won't need em. Worked for a couple of law firms. Justice won't come into it. You will be selling your soul for the endless pursuit of the senior partners latest sports car, so you will need your tunes to put your mixes on your Ipod to keep you sane, to earn the cash to.....buy more tunes! A modus operandi and mens rea if ever I saw one!
