Wouldn't worry about it Tony. The point of my an Jay's show and the nights we are subsequently putting on is to play whatever inspires you and what is plain and simple good music. For example Sully was playing Ian Dury & the blockheads at one point, I played Queens of the Stone Age, Jay - Jill Scot etc etc,
If people wanna go out and listen to Jinny / King Bee every weekend great - but i wouldn't worry about trying to please everyone - thought it was a good night personally

from a house perspective..2 tunes that are certainly not overplayed thatd do the business in a club are miro-pure silk and Suggestive-Advances..both corkers imo. Tbh i think peoples comments regarding 'In My House' were taken as out and out criticism, as opposed to constructive opinions as i saw them. What i'm saying really is you can play something fairly upbeat at a certain point in the night without resorting to tired 'Anthems', hence my 2 suggestions. Ed

You can't please all the people all the time. Just play what you feel is right, if you don't have x/y/z with you on the night, don't worry about it

It's only people off this forum (mostly) so they aren't gonna kick off or try and bottle you if you don't play young mc into asha lol

It wasnt though jammer, that was the thing. we were expecting lots more OSA bods, but it was probably 25% of the crowd who were OSAers at a very maximum. There were plenty of younger people in(who might not be au fait with some of the tunes) but even still the selections seemed to go down well

i was very surprised at some of the comments in this thread......surely dj'ing is about the crowd.......you can play all the "obscure" tunes you want but if the dance floor is empty what's the point?......i'd rather stand in front of 500 bouncin bodies with massive grins on their faces and hands in the air playin the tunes that THEY want than play to the tumble weed!!!! surely being able to read the crowd is part of the buzz also?

Thing is there is so many different types of old dance music, you could get 2 people who are both oldskool fans and they could both completely hate each others music, for instance a lot of people might like cheesy piano anthems all night but even though i do like piano, i wouldnt want to hear that at all, to be honest whenever im on my decks, i try to play as a big variety as a can and try not to stick with one kind

I see your point m8 but a good dj will not also read the crowd but creep those obscure tunes in nicely and learn peeps a thing or two

Being a good dj doesnt just mean going out belting out the big tunes (every dj wjo plays out can do that) its about atmosphere and taking your crowd on a journey theyll never forget bog standard will never be 'never forget' not for me anyway! or have those days long gone (i sincerely hope not!!!!)

Are you Easty in disguise ?

The whole point about My House is that it doesn't have to be formulaic with the same old tired tunes... tunes are not obscure.... they are either good or shit in my opinion... just because I may not know a tune will not detract from me enjoying it... a tune being shit will though...

Tony was asking for input on what type of tunes we'd like to hear... & that's appreciated coz he knows we're a touch more informed & also open-minded than yer usual chav oldskool Jinnyashayoungmc night....
