Technics every time, be worth the wait, or you could get a second hand pair for £350 to £450...

That fucking spunk cash king has spent, and i kid you not- over £500 quid on records in the last month. I think its disgusting, as he no longer even really listens to them when they come, we have say 3 a day coming- this is no word of a lie he actually opened one last week and said 'hmnn, i dont even want that'!!!!!!!! I told him i think its greed, he spends more time searching for records then he does actuallt listening to them. Spolit bastard from Viz or what. I was lucky enough to make a frigging killing on my house i just sold, and as i moved in with Jonno, who also bought at the right time we just, i dunno have too much money at the mo. Trust me, its a novelty- we are usually skint lol.

It depends where they live, ours are in the dining room- which is sorta the heart of the home as we have like a sette and table and chairs in here and the pc (big room lol), so yeah they have to look decent and fit with the decor. Its the whole Lada thing tho eh, they might be as good engine wise as BM but if they look a bit dodgy and shit on the outside you can't help but be swayed by aesthetics.

The thing is: are Technics really worth the extra money when there's a perfectly good next generation model taking the plaudits as a better turntable?

Why should anybody spend extra money for a turntable that might not even be as good?

I've yet too see a set of dex that dont look like toys with loads of funky lights or gadgets on em compared to technics. They just look like a proper piece of kit
Im happy with my dex though for a good few years yet though, its cd dex I wanna try to save up for now

Ive said that before, people are like sheep like with Technics. Yes, they are good, but there are other great contenders out there now that are infact superior for less money.

Technics are stable and reliable, nobody can fault that, but things do change and the STR8-150's by stanton are atleast worthy of anybody looking at seriously.

Everybody knows technics though, its like a DJ currency that never depreciates lol.

Sirius.

Its down to personal taste I suppose. I fell in love with the style, colour and build of mine, I much prefered the design and looks to technics. The lower level Stantons have changed now and look all "modern", so Im glad I got mine when I did, before they discontinued the model.

Exactly! Technics are the traditional decks to buy, thats what everyone used from year dot, so thats what everyone thinks they've got to use Traditions are hard to break.

Another point to consider then if you are umming and ahhhing over which make to buy.

Do you play out? or is it just for home use?

If you play out in clubs, then almost all clubs have Technics, so that's probably why people who play out are swayed to buying Technics decks...

Totaly agree m8,

I had a muck about on some stantons, they were nice but i prefer the feel of my techies, not only that but when you use technics you know your using quality, and the fact that generations of djs before have used them is symbolic. Call me daft but if i play a club and im using Technics im proud of it, wouldnt be with out my trusty 1210s. Besides, looking at the techy would you think it was a design concept from 78/79, nahh they are quite simply in my opinion the best looking table, non of this new fangles shyte, give me a pitch and a wedgie, and im a happy chappy

HAvent tried scratching on a stanton, what do you stanton chaps think of them?

Must admit, you do have to slightly change your........whats the word?........not style...but the way you work the deck with a Stanton, not so much 'pushin' & 'pullin' as i call it, a technics motor can't keep up with the pitch (move the pitch & the motor takes a second or two to responde) so you have to give a record a push or slow it down to keep the beats together, with a stanton the motors so much stronger when you move the pitch the motor responses instantly. Took me a while to teach my self NOT to push it or pull it when pitching up or down.

So back to the point, yes Technics are in most clubs....but matching a beat is still matching a beat innit? You adapt the way you do things accordingly like you do with a mixer, have a couple of mixes & suss it out, not every club has the same mixer do they?
