Cool - cheers for the info. The blurb/reaction is still in the sleeve I think - it just stuck in my memory from back then.

Oh, and sods law - I've lost another tune - that Espresso Logic remix you did. Talking about it the other day made when want to hear the Beaker vocalagain, so I went to my fool-proof alphabetically ordered shelves and went to C - for Chris Rea. Not there. R - for Rea. Not there. E - for Espresso. Nadda!

I gave up after about three hours.

Still when I was in the C bit there were the Chris and James tunes - so I listenend to them all while I was looking.

Which was nice.

Did you feel that Stress were right for your releases at the time?

I think that Stress was the best record label in the whole wide world at the time.

But that's just me. What was the owner/owners like?

Who were "All boxed in"?

And why is the Bros Luv Dubs "Mighty ming" the best double ep ever released?

Hi,

I started working for stress around 1993 I think and was involved in A+Ring every release until the label folded so I'm probably biased, but yes I'd agree we were pretty consistent.
The problem was that whilst myself, Dave Seaman and particularly Nick Gordon Brown (Route 66) ran the label, we didn't own the label which at the end of the day is the crucial issue.
DMC owned Stress, and personally I always found them very nice people and got on well with them. Having studios on site made the whole place a creative hotbed.................I can't think of many other labels who would have been able to have producers such as B.I.R., Full Intention, C+J, The Delorme, Sunday Club, Freefall etc. all on their roster.
I

Bit of a long shot this, but do you remember a tune from about 94 95, they used to play it round Brum all the time, that was a a soulful rap, sort of a but I think they used to put it over the top of other stuff like an acca. It isn't Young MC, Toni Scott or Portrait of a masterpiece! Ring any bells?
Cheers

I've had a trawl through the back threads and rather than answer any specific threads it's probably easier to just start a new one and you can throw some questions my way - I'll try and answer as much as possible, as I know there are loads of people out there who would love to get the inside track on 90's clubbing from someone who was right at the centre of it.

Fire away trainspotters !
Woo-hoo, you sound like just the man i am after! Right, this has been bugging me for years.

In 1991, i think it was around Novemebr i went to this shit club in Preston. It was really poor, Lord Byrons- but hey it passed a night on. The music was cheesy, the atmoshpere non-existant, cheap to get it, no driving or anything- you know the score. What i want to know is this, (fingers crossed its one of the ones you can answer!) There was a girl in the que 2 places in front of me for the toilets. She had the most amazing higlights ever, yet when i asked her who her hairdresser was she claimed to be too twatted to remeber. I reck she was just keeping the name of this top class crimper to herself. So was she being a selfish bitch or was she really so fucked she could not share this info with her fellow sista? Please shed some light on this as its driving me raaahnd the bend.

Cheers in advance
