Guitars in 'house' music...

Never been into guitar-based music...could be because my mum was a Sixties chick and had afair record collection herself. By the time I was in my teens, I was tired of the sound, then I found underground dance and seminal house and techno.

The 'funky house situation has also helped to switch me right off - how many more productions will incorporate these huge guitar riffs / power chord sequences from rock anthems of the past decade or so?

It all sounds hackneyed, cliched and very very tired to me.

Over to you...

Im well into guitar based stuff......i even used to play

I think the sound either works extremely well or not at all in house music......id be pushed to say that imo the best guitar sounds have come out of the more Balearic style tracks than anything else

ive heard some major disastors though in other house tunes

been some quality tunes over the years, liked a few of the flamenco guitar samples from around 94.

liquid "one love family" etc, also got a huge want of mine recently with a mad flamenco guitar sample.

that e-lustrious / purple king sample of kravitz was huge at the time along with "tinman"

also

nitelife cityrame "running so hard" (cheese tastic)

ALL GOOD GUITAR SAMPLES

I must confess.......

During the mid nineties, I was quite into the happy house style - Jeremy Healy et al ( I know ). So I still have tunes like 2 Fatt Guitars & Escrima - Train of thought (King Bee sample) amongst my collection. It can't be denied though that Guitar riffs like the one in Hardkiss's 'Throw your Guns' sounds amazing on a big system. Ed

..you just dance and (wow wow wow)...you just dance and (wow wow wow)....you just dance and "1-2-3" wowow wowwow wowow wowowo. Used to be a fan of TC1992 , and that one off Cleveland city B-line - herbal hand think it was called.. Do like Guitars in there ,but to be honest im not upto date with what has come out in the past 10 years or so , so i cant really comment on them. Theres another stormer in the shape of My bloody valentine - Soon (weatherall mix) that absoloutely rocked Have heard alot of filtered guitary type tracks though and they do all sound a bit sameish and buggery shitey

Don`t like guitars in house really but God within`s sampling of ELO for pheonix was pretty toppage. and that other version (2 amigos - Los puerbos)
Liked some of the indie dance crossovers for the wah wah appeal if that counts but mostly its the later tinman style poo that spoilt it for me.

The silicone soul remix of Colours - That guitar track was nice and the way the chems used to do it too was ace
