Aye, that's the rotten sort of stuff I am on about - reckon it hasn't helped my appreciation of guitar in classic house cuts too much... and that comes from someone who used to play guitar years ago.

Personally not heard any recent house tunes with Guitar samples in them, the house stuff I listen to is more subliminal..... I know where you are coming from if it is that heavy metal sorta sounding stuff with edam guitar riffs.... there was that tune back in 93 that sampled Nirvana - was never too keen on that.

Thank you for uploading - another tune I don't have to do the analog to digital. Result!
I've got such fond memories of this one, and most of them revolve around smoky dancefloors going absolutely bananas with people not quite sure what the f**k they were listening to.
Quite a lot of people didn't really need to be told to freak out - they were doing a pretty good job of that themselves, so hearing some big scary guy tell them to do just exactly that was a bit disconcerting.
Of course, that was just what everybody else told me.

Guitar stuff

As a guitar player (sort of hahah - school rock band "soundvave") i reckon guitars do go well if theres some sort of soul in the tune or if its not overly hard on the ears... that hardcore chap "Ecstatic" on Production House who did that "one day we'll all be free" sample over the quadrophenia beats - he used a sly guitar chord sample in the tune and it sounds more like a synth noise to me? if used cleverly, guitars can make the whole tune.

was playing a few chords on an achoustic guitar over hip-hop beats 90BPM -- interesting with a bit of scratching etc (Nice one Tim Acid ). Have you noticed how many commercial pop tunes are now borrowing techniques used in the older produced underground scene, ie the "funky filtered riff" style and like brixtim says the blatant guitar samples/filters. BTW Anyone hear that track which samples Cyberton - Clear (Juan Atkins 1983)?

I love marathon - moving and it works in that tune because it uses it to good effect. Also love shine on you crazy diamond by dream in goa.... but the original is the best

Think also tunes like she sell sanctuary and inxs also work in clubs too. Chica boom was a good one when it came out.

Didnt pianoman do Gunz n Piano's lol.

Theres been loads of guitar cheese over the years, some paletable, some just that bit too strong a flavour.

Heres a good one most of you will appreciate with guitar in - Bassheads, with that crazy horses lick. Think its that anyway.

Ez bro - aye, you mean that Missy Elliot thing... Lets Rock or whatever. Noticed that a few weeks ago, thought nothing of it till I started listening to Kiss FM net radio (its one of the only ones I can find that has a built in player that is not blocked by the net gateway at work), and found that they are playing it about 3 times an hour between 8 and 10am - until someone starts up PR ;o)

Can't blame em tho, it is one mo fo chunky piece of electro breakage. (Wes'side).

I liked the deep dish flashdance tune from last year, a proper gurner.

Which was the Jam and Spoon tract with the latin guitar?

The BT tune with Tori Amos was indeed blue skies, although I always prefered the original on the album which was called 'Divinity', its a beauty.

Don't know if it is a guitar sound in the background or not, but it certainly sounds like one to me....
