Are you getting paid to play records ?

There are so many vinyl addicts on this board I was wondering how many actually make money from their habit.

I know Ste H, Butty, Nathan, Ben Fisher, RJ DJ 'out' & get paid for it - anybody else ?

Only do parties and stuff now. Havent played a club for nearly a year as got ripped off by a DJ agency last time.
In fact I`m gonna have to get off my ass and sort something soon as I miss it.

Not anymore, I hung up the headphones a couple of years back. Still do the odd thing, but not like before and not for a wage, at one time on a regular basis I'd take home more cash at the weekend than for the 9-5!

lol

Mindyou the pay these days is shite compared to 90-96

i got paid more as an up and coming warm up in the early 90's than now doing my own sets

mind you my stuff is limited to parties in blackpool hotels and places like Insommnia, Club 1 Eleven and others

Mind you i stopped doing it 9 months ago as the commerciality and lack of a decent dance scene now put me right off

Alan

I was considering doing a guest slot at my 30th this year, but its the Manc derby the same day, so there is no chance, i'll be shitfaced...

I remember that tune m8. Sampled Rik Mayal dinnit!. Crazy. Youre getting in cheap for a quid, it was five pounds if I remember rightly

Sirius.

Ive got payed twice, a birthday do and a wedding do. Total about 100 quid!... At least it was proper dance music mind, not agadoo!. More hassle than its worth. Besides every man and his gran are 'dj's' these days.

You know I played at all the early London do's (Biology, teh Project,Playtime, dance Justice, Tonka) etc but I never made money out of it -it paid for my studio stuff, chewns and teh ilk - I really was in it for the love...

I may sound like an old hippy but I truely bought into the PLUR (Peace Love Unity Respect) of the "house"scene AND it brought me all of that...

Ripley, when you say The Project do you mean the Oakenfold Project or are these two different things?
