Professor John Mackenzie has sensationally announced that Leeds United have sacked prospective manager Gordon Strachan - before even giving him the job.

Mackenzie said:- "We felt it was in the best interest of Leeds United football club that we sack Gordon. It clearly was not working out, and the results since we approached Gordon have just not been good enough".

Gordon is expected to receive a three million pound pay off from Leeds, and will remain in charge at Southampton.
