The best thing to do is unistall it and go here http://www.kazaalite.com/nuke/
This is the same program with all the spyware taken out
Also another good place to get movies is newsgroups.
Apparently the page cannot be found, has it been shut down??

OK OK... so I'm a little bit late with a reply but what the hell

#1 Glazzy and DSL Access Speeds

Quote:
don't know if this is true or not cos it can sometimes d/l reaaly slow
As Myk pointed out its usually the server your connecting thats slow, either because its heavily loaded or its throttling your bandwidth.

But your speed can be directly affected by the number of users that are connecting into your local DSL switch. The max users per switch should be 50 users. If all 50 users are online then you will experience service degradation. Before signing up to any ADSL deal you should check the max amount of users who share your local DSL hub.

Another key factor is the distance you are from a Network Access Point (NAP). Many people get connections from companies that are several levels away from the Internet backbone. This is another issue you should check. For example... I start an ISP and offer cheap ADSL services.... I get my connections provided by Joe Bloggs ISP, who in turn gets his from BT Internet, who is provided NAP access via UUNET.

My ISP is quite far back from the NAP access point and that will affect my service.

If anyone wants a more detailed explanation or a list of questions to ask then PM me or reply to this thread.

#2 Kazaa Lite

Kazaa Lite still contains spyware... the way to tell is via the colour of the icon that appears in the top left within the Title bar. If this icon is red then you are spyware free.

If anyone wants a completely cleaned version of kazza then PM and you can d/l from my ftp server.

#3 Internet movies

Kazaa / e-donkey are OK sources for movies but there are some excellent channels on IRC that provide movies via fservers. Get your self an IRC client such as mIRC ( http://www.mirc.co.uk ) and connect to Dalnet or EFNet.

Once connected use the '/list' command to find channels offering warez. movies, etc.

Don't ask for help in these channels as they will just ignore you and make you feel like an 8 year old.

Here's a couple of tutorials that will help with fservers

http://blacksun.box.sk/format.php3?f...als/fserv.html
http://lordwolf.com/mirchelp/fserve/

Again.. if anyone wants a bit more detailed help then PM or reply here

I nearly forgot about Usenet... Usenet / IRC are one great resource.

If you look at the 'alt.binaries.movies.vcd' or whatever newsgroup , then it is a nightmare trying to figure out what you need to decode the attachments, identify incomplete downloads, etc.

I highly recommend XNews from http://xnews.newsguy.com/ . This is a great piece of software that downloads the newsgroup headers and provides you with a good picture of what you can download or what is incomplete.

If you download the choosen file, xnews will decode the attachments for you and leave you with a fully functional file.

I luber it

ste, what news provider do you go with?

peeps if you want to get the best out of newsgroups it'll cost ya...most isp provided newsgroups have half the threads missing and drop the threads after a short period of time.

I use pipex's own, quite good, all the binaries, and then supernews for the fills ( the ones missing of pipex)

fug - i use BNR, binary news reaper, best i've seen yet plus you can configure it for multiple servers and tell it which has priority..

i.e it'll use pipex mostly only going to supernews when it has to..saving $$$$$'s

From the minimal research I've done looking for a decent client I doscovered that:

E-Donkey was originally a great source for programs and beta release programs such as Windows XP but now video seems to be the file de jour. The downside to this program is that it apparently has some security issues, there's already been a publically available buffer overflow exploit available for older versions. To the developers credit, it was fixed pretty fast.

Kazaa is pretty much the artist formally known as Morpheus. This software has integrated spyware built-in. Be warned that Kazaa Lite still has spyware integrated !!! (If anyone wants a version of kazaa that has no spyware PM me.

kazaa or edonkey? hell I use both, if I can't find it on one I use the other

WinMX and Grokser are the only two p2p clients that come close and they kinda suck.
