If it is for Music then there is only one option Apple! and if you do buy Apple Leopard is coming out soon! which gives you 4 desktops and if you want to make music on a Pro level there is a new Logic Pro 8 just came out and the price has been cut in half which is amazing! to around £320 and you get over a grands worth of state of the art plugins.Mac is virus free etc you will always be slowing your PC down with all that crap software you have to have installed etc PC's are good for games! but it is just a matter of time when Mac takes over the games as well so you might as well switch now like i did 3-4 years ago! Vista is just trying to copy Mac OSX! why have something that is trying to be a Mac when you can have the real thing! and have real power in your hands!

Apple - Mac OS X Leopard

Apple - Logic Studio - Logic Pro 8

LOL, Apple didn't create Logic Pro, they just aquired when they bought Emagic in 2002.... I always thought it sucked anyway. Much prefer Cubase.

Emagic made Logic Pro,Apple bought it i did'nt say that!

I am a old cubase user myself! My mate! {music partner} uses Cubase on his setup at his house he hates it's! he loves it when he gets on this Logic setup so were gona get another Logic setup! but each to there own i understand that! but me personaly i would'nt settle for anything less than Logic as it is very in depth and thats what i need i can't wait to get my hands on this new sampler:

I'm not bitter mondy hehe, I knew you'd take the bait on that one, and boy did you

Never used one tbh so can't compare, when you are set in your ways, a lot of people won't change (me included) Cubase for me too, cracking prog.

Logic is wicked for making music in a inovative way and originalty thats why i love it!

I also find that the top producers that stand out to everyone else use Logic Pro like BT & Mauro Picotto! and many others! as they are inovative producers!

Me personaly i don't want to sound like everyone else! thats why i love Logic Pro!

To get that spec on Apple you're looking at a macbook pro at 1600 quid Apple Store - U.K. - MacBook Pro

To get one from Dell (albeit with a 120GB drive instead of (160GB)) you're talking 386 quid if you reduce the warranty to 1 yr instead of 3yrThe Dell Online Store: Build Your System

also silky you may also want to consider external storage in form of a portable hard drive - my laptop has a 80gb hard drive which isnt enough space for my musci, but i dont keep my music on my lappy. I have all my music (and my laptop progs backed up) on a 320gb My book http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/953432...0/Product.html

wouldnt be without it - as the loss of my music collection would upset me too much and its way to much to back up on dvd's lol

so if you have to compromise on anything at least you have the external hard drive option to fall back on as my laptop is a HP Pavillion and i had to sacrifice hard drive size in favour of other features the machine had.

Or you could buy a Macbook at £699 then put the RAM and HD in yourself for about £150 ish dead easy to do as well just slots in. I've got a Mac too and would never go back to PC..
