DVD Recorders

To cut a long story short I bought a Samsung dvd recorder from Currys in November last year. Had nowt but problems with it so I rang them up at the weekend and they told me to take it back for a refund/exchange. I used gift vouchers to pay for it so a refund would be pointless.
I've just had a look at some reviews for dvd recorders around the same price, £150, and it's which to be the worst out of the lot of them.

Does anyone here have a dvd recorder, that was purchased for a similar price that they can recomend me ?

Wanting something that plays Divx/Xvid files.

Cheers

I don't own a DVD recorder - (I have a pair in my pc though lol), but I'm sure that Lite On (who make PC DVD recorders) have ventured into the standalone market and might have something to suit you. Give it a try

Cheers for replying mate.
Seen a few Lite On ones when I bought the Samsung and tbh with ya they looked cheap and nasty. Still I suppose you can't judge a book by it's cover.

I'm tempted to just go for a Player as long as it plays all Divx files. Don't really need the record function as I have 160gb Sky+ box.

I'll see whats happens when I get to Currys tomorrow

I worked for Currys for 4 years and apart from their stinking customer service (good luck if you do want a refund cos they are nobs about it) we used to get a fair few of those Lite-Ons back faulty, mind you they were the cheaper end of the market so its probably to be expected for the price. You might wanna read some customer reviews before hand on somewhere like Amazon.co.uk: LIteOn LVW-5025GHC+ - DVD recorder / HDD recorder with TV tuner: Electronics & Photo
