Wot do u peeps use instead of Kazaa and Edonkey etc

slseek is great for tunes but not so good for other stuff so wot do you peeps use?

The organisation that produced the eDonkey2000 app has shut down. They settled out of court with the RIAA in the U.S. for summat like $30 million.
eMule, however, is opensource and alive and kicking (mule... kicking... geddit?)

It uses the same protocols as eDonkey (with some enhancements) as well as some additional protocols. Not currently as widely used as eDonkey was but AFAIK should be around for a while yet.

When I do download stuff (which I don't often now) I use IRC. You can find guides on how to set it up and use IRCSpy.com : The Most Advanced IRC Search Engine to search for files.
I know 'someone' who used to flog CD's DVD's and porn and got most of his stuff from there. There are channels dedicated to serving the top 40 albums chart, new films and software etc..

i only use slsk.

I dont bother with dl other stuff - i cant be bothered with dl films etc as they just take too long (even though ive a fast broadband)
also i dont want nasty virus or spyware

Emule is as widely used as Edonkey :thumsbup:

with the correct configuration it runs very noice indeedio

Plus Ive got VNC running on my machine at home so i can remote desktop to it from work and start new downloads

I use a combination of things:

i pay $5 per month for 40gb worth of downloads from EasyNews ® (servers)

then i use Newzbin - Usenet Search to search the newsgroups, when i have found what i want i then download the .nzb file from newzbin & use NewsLeecher :: Download binaries from the usenet with ease to download the files

It sounds a bit complicated but its a piece of pish really

i use bit torrent for new stuff and emule for older bits
