I am currently in the mental state that is usually known to all as....

SICK AS FUCK !!!!!!!!!!

Dunno how but somehow i've managed to pick up a virus and cant seem to get rid if it. Its the "Virus Burst" thing that tells you you've got virus activity on your computer (Yeah, no fucking kidding, its you, you fucking bastard little thing).
I've done a google search thing and found a few things on how to get rid of it but seing as i'm a mong on computers, i dont know if i'm doing it right cos its still there. didnt finish the whole guide either cos i didnt understand some of it.

Question......is there any way to just reboot my computer or something and have everything wiped off, or would that mean that i had to reinstall absolutely everything ? i.e. internet browser software, music recording programs and simplecast for OSA radio ???????????

Any help would be appreciated cos i'm well and truly in unchartered terittory here

How to remove VirusBurst / Virus Burst / Virusburst - The easy way! » The PC Doctor

File Description:

SmitRem is a tool that noahdfear created to remove the Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c malware infection and it's variants, AntivirusGold, PSGuard Spyware Remover, SpySheriff, Spy Trooper, SpyAxe, Security Toolbar, WinHound and SpywareStrike.

These infections are known as Desktop Hijackers and make many unwanted changes to a user's computer. They are also difficult to remove. The effects of each of the above variants varies, in some cases infecting the system file wininet.dll and/or disabling the Task Manager in addition to taking over the desktop. I have included the repair of all of the known registry changes made by these hijackers, as well as the removal of the associated files and folders created. Panda ActiveScan online should be run following the use of this tool, since it can detect and often repair anything not found and removed with the tool.

Usage Instructions:

Download smitRem.exe, saving the file to your desktop. Double click it to extract the contents to a folder of it's own. Restart your computer in safe mode, logon to the user account that is infected, open the smitRem folder and double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen and allow disk cleanup to complete. Upon reboot, you can reset your desktop background. Note: XP users using the XP theme may ex-perience a change to the Classic Windows theme. This can be changed on the themes tab of desktop properties.

if you dont know what you are doing (and its very simple to follow the above instructions) then ask a pc savvy friend or relative to run the scans for you.

Is basically a low level hijack, writes to the sysreg and dumps misc files on the machine, delete them they just rewrite themselves via a reg command and path.

Thanks very much for the help (although you both may as well have been speaking Cling-on cos i didnt understand much of that.lol)

really appreciate it, but i phoned my mate and he said to try "System Restore" in the accessories menu(DUUUHHH How obvious!) tried this and it seems to have worked however if it does come back I'll give you a shout Stylee and pick your brains on a more permenant solution.

no probs man, gotta watch it with sys restore as infections can infect them aswell
