Image extraction on photoshop

Ive been fiddling and learning myself new little tricks

I have sussed out how to cut an image out using filter etc but once ive got the image ready and cut away from the background...i cant quite suss out how to place said image over a background of my choice

Any one help me out here....it must be something simple to do with the layers im guessing but a little nudge int he right direction would be much appreciated

Hiya Debs,

I don't do this in Photoshop, and there's a gazillion different ways to do it, but...

When you've "cut away" yer image from the background, what are you left with... is it a multi-layered image where the fore & backgrounds are on separate layers? or do you have like a lassoo chucked around the bit you wanna keep?

You should be able to just select the appropriate layer, copy it to the clippy & paste it back (as a new layer) onto the background image of your choice.

Likewise if it's lassooed, you should just be able to copy/paste it.

If when you do that, it pastes the wrong bit of yer pic, or it just pastes a blank, then I reck you've not selected the correct layer on yer source pic before hoying it on the clippy.

Dunno if that helps at all...

Send a message via MSN to Judderz
If you have it cut out, and you have a background you want to put it on, have both the images open, and just drag and drop the image you want on the background. Job done
