How easy is it to add another SATA drive to the computer?

Im used to 'piggy backing' the IDE types with a ribbon cable that has two break offs, but the sata is different.

I have a Seagate Baracuda 120GB SATA, but Im reaching the point I need a lot more space - Im relying on DVD discs and stuff to keep my PC from filling up, and Im mowed out with DVD's lol.

Ive seen a Medion 350GB USB hard drive for 120 quid, which is another option, but Im pretty sure I can get a 250GB SATA internal one for about 65 quid or something.

Damn big programs lol. Ive started to record more vinyl too - to WAV format for better fidelity incase I wanna get deeper into Ableton Live in the future. Trilogy is like 3gb, Ableton is huge, all the Reason refills, Stylus RMX is 4gb lol.........my PC is croaking "help me, help me". .

If your motherboard has a spare sata connection, your case has a spare drive bay and your psu has a spare power conector then it's just a case of fitting it, conecting the device and booting up (all easy to do). The device will be auto detected and bob's your uncle

Heh, Im liking that IDE adaptor ... Might get myself one. I have a few IDE's hanging around that I dont use.

I will have to check my mainboard and PSU then eh......so it automatically knows its a slave when you add it?

Yeah SATA is different in that it doesn't have master and slave settings

you can buy ide/sata convertors as well
