DivX out of synch audio!

Now i'm into this downloading films milarky i've come across a really really annoying problem, most DivX films i D/L have sound which is slightly out of synch to the film (by about half a second ) Is very annoying & is really spoiling the films for me

I've googled this problem & it looks like theres loads of people getting the same thing. Just wondered if anyone else had the same trouble & found a solution they'd like to share?

what kind of films are these???

Have you got ALL the divx codecs installed? It might need updating with later versions, that can fix some problems.

Also, check the files out that you are downloading, don't bother getting TS (Tele Sync) versions, you're better off with DVD Rips, straight to avi files as divx encodes, as they don't usually have any sync problems.

Are you watching it on a PC or on a divx dvd player btw?

Knew you'd be the man Mr Jammer! Am watching on a cheapy chili / Yamada 7200x player, have been doing a bit of research & it looks like theres a big problem with players & video / Audio synching on a lot of players?

Before thinking about binning/selling the player you have, try watching it on your PC just to test it's ok. If it plays fine on your PC, then the player might need updating, check the manufacturers website on how to do that.

Failing that, might need to invest in another player, pioneer do some really good ones, around the £100 mark and they're a reputable make, but as I say, check the files out on your PC first before shelling out any more cashola

I had a similar problem yesterday..... trying to convert movies so they would play on my Archos portable media player.

I tried loads of formats for sound and vision and i'm still working on finding a suitable combo as most of the video would freeze, fast forward or slow-mo in parts and the sound would be out of sync

Trial and error for me unfortunately, as there's very little info available online for performing the conversion

theres a spot on divx/dvd player on amazon for 35 quid delivered

got one the other month and its the best 35 quid ive spent

Tons of info on conversion here: www.videohelp.com

After months of trial and error I found Xvid to be much better quality than Divx and one of the best conversion progs is a freebie called Virtualdub - have had no probs with sync so far
