If you are ripping CD's then surely WMP does the whole process.
If your doing an analogue source then you could try programs like Nero, goldwave,Steinberg wavelab or Sony soundforge but only the first is free the other two are spot on but you will need a second mortgage to purchase lol.

I think some of the tracks may have that DRM protection which is digital rights management, I dunno too much about it, but I think someone else on here might be able to shed some light on it

Yea DRM (digital rights management) is a p1ss-poor attempt at copy-protecting music files.

If you've got loads of DRM'ed files then you won't be able to copy them all around the gaff.

As for your question about iTunes, I assume you mean copying your library file (ie list of titles/tracks & associated filenames) to WMP from iTunes?

Not sure this can be done, as Apple & MS kind of hate each other.

If all you want to do is listen in WMP, then register all the music file extensions (MP3, WMA etc) to Media Player instead of iTunes. then when you doubleclick one, it'll launch in WMP. A new library list will build up as you play files.

Personally, I'd choose iTunes over WMP every day of the week (I'm not sure WMP supports all the formats iTunes does). The crappy startup speed of iTunes with a big tracklist p1sses me off tho, so I tend to listen using Winamp.

Audiograbber does work well.

Be careful though as Im not sure it actaully converts files at 44khz i think it only does 30 khz (i could be rong but when i used it that was all it did) this is a bit strange as you set the file up to say do it at 320kb/s only to find out that the audio range is 30hz which kinda defeats the object of ripping at 320kb/s

personally I would try using Windows media player seems to be pretty good, theres one that comes with Nero as well which is superb but u only get it with the full monty version of Nero

Dunno if you guys know but most of the stuff is done using a .dll file called lame. Its the quality of the lame file itself which makes a difference to your audio rip. You can download different version of the dll from the web and over write the one in audiograbber for example.

go here for the latest .dll file

Download LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98 : LAME MP3 Encoder is the best mp3 encoder

hope this helps

Iain
