Any PC heads on here?

I have a computer with a corrupt OS hard drive, want to get it working again, any alternatives to partioning, reformatting then reinstalling?

suggestions would be very appreciated.

If it's got XP on it, you could try re-installing XP over itself, your data will then still be intact if the O/S has gone tits up, it'll be set up again.

Unless it's the drive itself that is fucked, in which case you'll need a new hard drive?

If that doesn't work, then buy a new hard drive, fit it and install your operating system onto it, use the corrupt one as a slave and you should be able to rescue some of your files (unless your hard drive really is buggered). Anything left in My Music, My pictures and possibly My Documents will be unretrievable though - if you're using XP Home (not sure about XP Pro)
