Any registry experts?

I cocked up something in my registry last week - every time I opened a folder, it opened in a new window.... lol

Anyway, I've sorted that, but its still doing it when I click on a drive from the "my computer" folder. Can someone help me fix it coz it's piss annoying.

Cheers

You cold try if your on XP

Control Panel, Folde Options and make sure the Browse folders is set to open in same window.

If that fails try the restore defaults.

If that fails try a system restore.

tut tut - didn't you backup your registery before making the changes .

Some programs do it automatically wihtout letting you know, you could try searching for files like backup.reg and restore it through regedit. Before restoring a reg file look at the properties page and check the date out it was created - you may have more than one and the later the file the better

lol, I didn't make any changes, it was a prog I had to change a few icons.

I sorted the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT >>> FOLDER >>> SHELL and that sorted every folder from opening in a new window, but I can't find any help for stopping it happening from within the MY COMPUTER window.

as annie said before

goto start/settings/control panel and then pick folder options

under the browse folder bit make sure "open each folder in the same window" is selected

job done

install the reg cleaner and then clean the registry, might work but if youve been pissing about with it and deleted stuff it could make no difference.

Try system restore.

start / progs/ accessories / system tools / syst restore.

and next time mate, use ya noggin
