Quicktime

Gettin very peed off with this now. When clicking on an MP3 on a web page, IE usually asks if I want to save or open it (opening it launches Winamp, which is what Ia want). Now have Quicktime installed and it seems to have taken over this and insists on opening the file in the webpage, which takes far longer and doesn't give me the option of saving or opening.

I have checked all the options in the player (MIME settings and files types). None of the MP3 options are selected, so in theory, Quicktime shouldn't touch MP3 files, but never the less, it still takes over when clicking an MP3 link!!!

does anyone have any idea ?Apart from uninstalling it

Its great is quicktime. If you really wanted to bin it you have to in your browser prefs not quicktime. To avoid this when clicking on the link to a mp3 right click and choose 'save target as' or 'save linked file' or whatever it says on those shit pc type things

Hey, LeedsDJ.........

What I do is uninstall Apple Quicktime fully and use "Quicktime Alternative" and "real alternative".......seems to be okay for me. Quicktime used to kosh my system in and be a right pain in the arse taking over everything so i typed in Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative in google and got those progz, used them ever since.

They dont have all the bells and whistles the proper ones have though, but for web stuff its okay.

Sirius.

Just be carefull when you install any prog for playing mp3's or videos that you don't accidently make it the default player. Just open up your prefered player and there should be an option somewhere to change the associated file types.
