| Serious PC problem - please help! Sh*t tw*t bollo*ks! I've just installed a new Radeon 9800 graphics card in my pc. Everything was going fine, installed went fine and it had been up and running for around 20 mins. I loaded up Medal Of Honor and was just ticking all the boxes to max out the settings to see how it would perform and.... my pc just went off. Now it won't turn back on again. First I thought it might have been the PSU, but there is a light on the motherboard, so obviously power is still there. Has anyone got any idea at all as to what might be up? I've checked the cable going to the switch to see if that had come loose, but that seemed fine. I'm seriously worried that something has gone badly wrong and is going to cost a bomb to put right.... Thanks in advance.

| First off mate it might still be your psu cos your motherboard runs off a battery. All signs point to the graphics card i reckon, can you stick the old one back in and see what the crack is cos thats the newest bit of kit you have put in and things have gone wonky.... Id check the cables and stuff as well, make sure everything is in and you didnt leave one slightly loose and its ended coming out |

The old graphics card was intergrated with the mobo, so can't really "put it back in" lol. There's no way I could even get that one working again since I can't turn the comp on to get into the bios to disable the AGP slot and re-enable the intergrated graphics. I just pulled out the PSU and it had an odd smell about it - kind of like licuorice. I've a sneaky suspicion that the Radeon card might just have tried to suck too much juice and blown it. I hope it is only that, and I've not fried something expensive lol ![]()

| sounds like its fucked then lol i wouldnt worry about frying something expensive...most expensive thing will be your chip which is probs alright by the sounds of it and even that will be no more than 100 quid if youve got an integrated graphics card on the board probs |

| try this Have a look on the mobo for the reset jumper. Change it to reset (remove and place thejumper on the appropriate pins - making sure to put back in the right place before switching on) remove graphics card and start up.

| Sorted now thanks, it was the PSU. Graphics card sucked the life out of it lol. Got a new one thismorning and now I'm up and running again. Just installed a demo of Far Cry and I'm absolutely gobsmacked at the level of detail. I had no idea PC games had gotten this good Now then, where's the torrent link to the full game..... ![]()
