NTL smart card

Up until recently i had an NTL smart card that basically allowed me to watch everything, and i mean everything sky sports, sky movies, on demand movies the lot. I paid £160 about a year a go for the priveledge and the gadger from NTL reckoned it would work as long as i lived at this address. Unfortunately, NTL apparently zapped all these dodgy cards and subsequently i now only have bbc1, bbc2, itv, channel 4 and some free channels like cbeebies etc. The geezer who sold me the box surprisingly enough doesn't work for NTL anymore so i was wondering does anybody know if i can fix the card or do i need a new card? A mate at Uni reckons he knows a lad who can reprogramme the card for about £25.
Any advice greatly appreciated cheers guys

yep, the same thing happened to me , ntl got onto it and changed a code for that batch of cards, so the guy who we got ours off took it and got it reprogrammed. he should be able to still get it done though even if he doesnt work for ntl anymore.
160 though thats a little steep, i got mine CONSIDERABLY cheaper
(40 quid ) and that had half a million quids worth of credit on it for pay per view and all that shite

yeah i thought it was a bit steep as well fella - i got a box with it as well though and he put me another box in downstairs so i could watch different things on different floors like... i hear what your saying about the fact that he should still be able to fix it 0- unfortunatley the mobile number i have got for him is now dead so i have no way of contacting him
