couple of questions re: Win XP

I really should know these, but im getting old and forgetful.

Firstly, how on outlook express do you get a pc to dial up straight away to retrieve emails. At the moment my father in laws PC just comes up with an error unless we go through internet explorer to dial up first (Bet theres a setting somewhere in outlook to change it!)

Next bloke in works having probs with automatic update, the updates pointing to that useless 8mb partition thats created with the XP install and trys to unload it all in there but comes up with an error message saying there is not enough drive space, how do I manually change the destination to the primary partition.....Answers on a postcard to the usual address!

1. I think if i understand ya right you want your internet to come on as the pc starts. To do this copy your connection in to ya start up folder and make sure connect automatically is connected. That way you will be online as soon as ya pc booted and ya mails should automatically download as long as each account is set to use your default connection.

2, Not too sure on this one but i am sure it gives you the option before it downloads as too where to point it too. But i could and probably are wrong.

Hope any of that helps Andy

cheers Andy

I have now fathomed out the outlook express shenanigans, however I think the problem with my work collegues XP machine is that it wasn't a raw drive and has probably reinstalled XP without using the faithful FDISK command to remove the secondary partition(s).
