Can anyone help me. My fekking mate as been on my pc and had somehow changed my home page and no matter wat i put in the internet options it just reverts back to a page called about:blank which contains loads of shit and search engines.

It well pissing me off now. I have tried deleting cookies, offline pages etc and still no good.

Sounds like a job for adaware AND "Spybot search and destroy". theres also another one specific for the home page thing which I cant remember the name of, but I seem to remember these doing it.....Im tired, so I may be getting confused, lol. Give em a whirl, spesh spybot.

Sounds like you've been fekked by the fickle finger of ad-ware. Some of them can be a bitch to get rid of... some things to help us help you:

1) Is there a specific URL/domin? summat like coolsearch.web or summat?

2) Download a copy of Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and run that against your system. As long as its not the msi thing then it should detect it and remove it.

Right mate as of yesterday this didnt work but it was late and i hadn't rebooted so when i get in tonite i will try again.

scan on antivirus.com usually picks up all the shit like

check your add/remove progs as well and a regcleaner will show up loads of ad crap no doubt

Right update for ya's.

I have run spybot and that hasn't worked. I still cant get my home page to revert from this attached one to any others. I also tried running the trend on line scanner and my ie just crashes.

Any more ideas peeps before i smash this damm thing up

you could have some rogue Dll's, so as they say above on the links, you could try *when you THINK* you have got shut of it, reset the clock to over a day ahead and see if it returns.

Looks like it could be a virus too... with kind of mutating named dll's so whip you antivirus over everything too.....and have a look at the CWshredder or whatever its called.

Get adware from lavasoft the free version get the update then run the application your mate has the key cmc.dll

The latest version of adware has the key in its database on adware and will delete it.

Or you could go into the registry and search for it yourself and delete it. I wouldnt advise this though if you dont know what your doing in the registry as youll fuck up the PC if you get it wrong

The man like Andy has sorted it for me. For anyone who encounters this fekking problem it turns out quite easy to fix.

I downloaded CW Shredder and it finds it straight away. Then it tells ya a few things you can do to prevent re occurance. I have downloaded a patch that should hopefully fix it but wont know till later when i get home.

Fekking bolloxs

Its back I have run the cw shredder and it gets it everytime. I also installed the patch from microsoft and that hasn't worked and i have tried to uninstall java machim which is the cause of all this shit. The cw shredder gives ya a link to a site that tells ya how to get rid but all the info is about xp not win 2k sp3

If you look at some of them links sirius gave you i think there`s a fix in there somewhere for win 2k.Apparently it put two rouge dll files in your registry so it re-infects.You have to twawl through a few pages but i think it near the end..
