If you chip it make sure you get an Xecuter chip fella, I have set up several and they work wonderfully. Putting a larger hard drive on is easy to do its a simple swap over job. You can program youre new hard drive "and shitloads" of other stuff from any of the dashboards out there (think of it as your operating system for the XBOX) persoanlly I like EvolutionX or EvoX as it's sometimes named. You can download autoinstallers for this operating system in many flavours, the most popular is SlAyErS, available the usual donkey/torrent etc circuit. Changing the HDD isnt really needed if it's just for your save games. I however use my to copy whole discs to when I havent time to rip and record them (when theyre rented for example). I also have about 4GB of mp3's on my drive and a few films that I havent gotten round to seeing yet.

xbox live

are u planning to use xbox live, if so when u get your box chipped make sure its the switch type so u can turn it off otherwise xbox live will block your xboxs ip an u wont be able to use it on line on offical xbox live but im told their is unnofical xbox live sites where modded xboxes can play . the xbox is supposed to have a 8 gig hard ( due to a shortage of seagate 8 gig some have bigger mines a 20 gig drive as standard) but when they are modded most pple add bigger hard drives my mate has about 100 games on his hard drive in xbox.the only problem i can see is the one i had with the sega dreamcast 140 games to pick from u dont know what to play lmao have u played halo yet if u like first person shooters its fookin top halo 2 should be out at end of year hurah lol ive owned a xbox from about 6 months after release i payed 250, wen i bought my mrs one cos i couldnt get on mine they were 140 . the only fault i can find is the lazers get dirty due to air being sucked in threw cd draw but easy enuff to clean. if u smoke u will have to do xbox about once a year to keep it runnin sweet if my xbox is anythin to go by

Sticking it on involves formatting your current xbox hdd and basically throwing a new front end on it.

Nervous stuff if u dont know what u r doing as it can fook it up,but as long as u do as it says u will be fine.

Also did ya check what dvd drive u got in xbox certain ones dont like cdr and dvdr

There is a xbox thing u can use online when machine is chipped infact ure machine has to be chipped to use it.

moto gp2 halo morrowind return to castle wolfenstien vice city, all available on the pc and better too

I been thinking about getting an X-Box too, how much are those chips?
Am I correct in thinking you dont even have to chip it if you solder a couple of points on the tsop chip & flash it using another allready modded X-Box?
Has anyone done this, is it as easy as it looks?
How can you find out which drive is in it before buying one?

You can grab a copy of the latest Evox dashboard auto-intaller here :
http://bt.xbox-sky.com:8080/

Youll need bit torrent installed on yer PC for the download to work.

Once you have it, decompress it to a folder of your choice then burn the contents of the folder onto a blank CD-RW or DVD-RW using Nero and choosing the UDF (force xbox compatibilty) options from within Nero.

Now slip the disc into the Xbox and reboot it (with disc in). You should now be given an option to format and install Evox onto your hard disk. The whole Evox loading process takes just a few minutes. Now remove disk and reboot and VIOLA! new dashboard and a shedload of new applications on including media centre, dvd player etc etc.

Hav phun!

Ive heard it can be done Jaz but not with great results. Check out the guides on http://www.xbox-scene.com

An Xecuter chip over here cost about 40€ (30GBP) and theyre definately one of if not the best option available
