Potentiometers are 2.50p each when you buy a pack of 5 or more.......technics may be a specialist size, but I dont see why they should make thier own standard when they can buy off the shelf components made in some Chinese sweat shop or super efficient mass production factory to put in thier products.

You have to give the shop some markup and minimum order delivery or whatever so I thought you shouldnt be paying more than 6 quid!. Id stretch to 12quid cos they know you are over a barrel and you need it doing. Thats for a standard slider.
Lets imagine technics are mystically different to every other manufactured potentiometer available, add the previous stuff up plus a 'brand name ' mark up and I could see it at 12 -15 quid.
Hard to Find records have them for £19.00 - and you know that they arent exactly a thrifty discount store, lol.http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR44103.

I dont know what repair shops charge per hour, but anyone worth thier salt could do a deck easily within 15-20 minutes I reckon. Say half an hour if he drops the screws allover the floor etc, lol.

I suppose its the 'Plumbing' syndrome isnt it? Costs them 2.50 for a washer and 4 quid for a new U bend.........come round and fix your sink and the going rate is like 80 quid just to take a look!!! lol. If 65-80 quid is the going market rate theres not much you can do except buy some spares from HTFR and get a local shop to solder it in for you on the cheap.

I find it shocking that what should be a five pound component and half an hours work tops is £80.

Anyway, sorry to inform you you are all being screwed, I shouldnt have said owt, lol.

See ya

Sirius.
