Reinstall Windows 98 from XP??

Anyone know how to re-install windows 98 from XP?

I've just recently installed XP and since I have my PC has been totally buggered! Proggies like Media Player, Windows Explorer and others just won't work as it says there's been an internal application error when I try to load them up.

Programs also close for no apparent reason also.

Everything worked fine & dandy on Windows 98 so I wanna go back.

I have the Win 98 restore files (it says so in disk cleanup) but I can't find them. Anyone know what I should do to revert back to 98?

Cheers

Yeah I installed XP over 98.

What the problem is, is that the control panel or any other features of windows such as media player won't load up.

So, I can't remove programs. It always says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem please restart your computer if the problem persists" or "An internal application error has occured".

What can I do to sort it or reinstall windows 98?

Cheers

Yeah thought that might be the best option. Hate to do it tho. Got so much sh!t on here I don't know whats what. I'll need to transfer all my files to an external drive first tho.
Cheers bud

P.S - Can I transfer program files to an external drive then copy them back onto the formatted drive and still have them working without re-installing the programs like you normally would?
