Sorting out tapes ???

Ok I have an excellent tape from 91, but the sound quality is a pile of pants (apparantly the girl who taped it for me thought she was a dj by messing with the graphic equalizer whilst recording it ). So sometimes it goes all bassy then the next min it goes all hissy

Its one of my fave tapes and I really NEED to sort it out.

Me and grad tried ages ago (cant remember what we used now) but it didnt make a lot of difference so if anyone knows of anything we can use, cos this tape NEEDS saving

Theres summat called 'Clean' which you can 'acquire' thru the usual sources.... not used it meself but understand that you can cut out all hissing etc & re-EQ

not sure about saving the tape Sweet coz you've got to rip the tape 1st into wav/mp3 etc & then 'clean' it, prolly saving as wav/mp3..... if u still need as a tape I guess u can link ya tapeplayer to the pooter to re-record back onto a faithful c90

trouble with this tape is that the faults aren't consistent, one minute it's fine, then hissy, then really bassy..last time i looked at it the only way i could see of doing it was to do it by small sections at a time...and that made it a massive job.

i'll check out this software but i doubt there's anything that'll do this all in one go.

there was a company advertising on here or on anthems who did this for ya, put em on cd etc and sorted the quality out as best they could

I dont need to put it back onto tape, I can stick it on cd or something.

Grads right tho, its not consistent...some of it sounds fine then it goes awful stupid cow !!! Lol

Cheers for that it says they charge £25 an hr approx shame they dont charge per tape.....its a good tape but Im not sure I want to spend £25 an hr I'll email them and see what they say

lol it would probably be cheaper for me to go back to swansea, track down dj jamo and get him to redo it for me lol !!

Sound Forge 6.0 is all you need.

"Acquire" that via Soulseek, or Sharereactor (emule).

And fuggy, why not drop it off rather than post it you can have a brew then too

Soundforge would do the trick deffo. Was going to also suggest pm'ing Noel. He remastered a load of stuff incl. them Sunrise '89 sets - could ask him what he used...
