Is it me or does this board tell fibs?

I remember when I first joined up and posted and it didn't register that I'd made a first post (talking next to my username)

Didn't think much of it, made a 2nd post (which registered as my 1st)

Now, looking now and then at the total number of posts [Posts: 165,706] made it changes and you get a highlighted symbol in each fora, indicating there's been a new post (almost like Santa has brought you a wee pressie) so off I go to that forum to investigate...

Every now and then it says there's a new post, and when I get in there, there isn't, it's lying, the bad bugger.

Is it a glitch?

I dunno if its this bud, but it might be - In the Chillout, there is two sections, wafflingo and just Chillout, I think the chillout highlights when somebodys posted in wafflingo.
Also, if anyone has made a poll, when somebody answers that poll, without a post, just indicating thier preference on whatever it is, it highlights as a new post/reply has been made.

Other than that, I dunno, its fubar'd! lol.

Yeah I did wonder that, but I checked it twice as the Waffling Room last post was 31st December...

Tis a strange structure of fora within fora for sure

Still, it gives me things to worry about

I see something like this occasionally. In the Last Post field it says something like "1st January 2004 11:54 AM by blue jammer", and indicates its a new post. And if I go into that Forum, Blue Jammer may have made the last post, but it could be a post I'd already seen 12 hours ago that somehow now has a different post time. Couldn't really give two hoots but it has made me wonder WTF once or twice.

didnt he fix it so peeps cant just put 'lol' or a smilee etc to rack up post count numbers.......it was rife at one point.
