convert avi 2 mpeg?

okay im sure this has been asked b4 but i cant find the thread

im looking for a program to convert some avi film clips to mpeg

preferably free

the clips are about an hour long or so

can anybody recommend a program that i could download

the first program i downloaded was a waste of time

i maybe sould have also written i know naff all about doing this so something that as easy as pushing a few buttons would be preffered

google is often your best friend for techie stuff

"easy" avi to mpeg converter, brought back this:

I can't say if it's good or not as haven't used it myself.

Are you wanting to watch the converted files on a DVD player? if so, the first link although lengthy will do it a treat, if you just want them in another format to play on your pc, try the easy-avi converter..

yeah its to watch them on a dvd player

i did have a go at google and download.com but being a novice at this i got a bit confused and needed a bit of advice

The easiest (3 clicks) and most stable solution is NeoDVD 5, it aint free though (but can be downloaded on Bit Torrent, Kazaa, Overnet, IRC, E-Donkey etc etc)
