Theres loads of things it could be, try runining Disk Cleanup from Start > Accessories > System Tools

also clear your internet explorer cache from the Tools > Options menu in internet explorer.

If its still runing slowly it may be time to consider upgrading your operating system and putting on a fresh install.

I dunno about Opera much, but used to speed up everything after a good registry clean up. System mechanic from www.iolo.com sorted my mates pc. Win XP seems to fill it up wi loads of crap. My advise is leave well alone until its propper had it
T'aint broke dont fix it.

Deffo dont upload microsoft patches

Spyware

Sounds to me Missy like you are full up with spy and adware, if you download Pestpatrol : http://www.pestpatrol.com/ it will tell you what you have on your computer, if you do have any which i would put money on, then you can download a full copy from Kazza etc which will remove your crap.....

hop this helps

Cheers
