| Howdy peeps I keep getting a virus alert about compressed files in the _RESTORE directory (or folder, for you younger peeps!) ![]() It is, of course p*ssing me off. Can anyone tell me whether or not it's safe to just delete the entire contents of C:\_RESTORE ? I've no pirate software on my PC (honest guv'nor), so I thing the infection started from a JAVA class file on a webpage (?). Any info much appreciated. Cheers Jay

| It'll put the little bugger into quarantine, and then I can delete it... but I just can't figure out how it keeps getting back there... No TSRs or anything running that shouldn't be... I've rebooted & scanned the HD again and found no probs, I suppose I'll just have to steer clear of dodgy websites (like this one lol) ![]()

| Do you have system restore turned on? If not I think its safe to delete (I dont have it on my c drive) I would turn system restore off then delete it, then if you need system restore turn it back on and create a new restore point. You should definitely install iespyad as its a registry file that will put your security settings to max on all the (known) sites that use dodgy tactics like that java stuff. Get iespyad from http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm |
