Freeserve broadband

I am getting this this week and wondered if anyone is using it and how reliable it is. Also because my comp is in the bedroom i wam gonna have to use a pretty long telephone extension cable to reach downstairs so will thi affect my connection speeds.

No the extention wont have any bad implications to the service mate.

However you might be a little gutted as the bulldogdsl are doing a special offer at the moment it 8.00am - 6.00pm dsl of 512kbs and then 6.00pm to 8.00am 1 meg for 24.95 per month or same 8 - 6 with 2meg 6pm to 8.00am 29.95 but that ran out yesterday.

hope you have better connection than mine! not had a propper connection for a week now.

Running freeserve for nearly a year...... NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!

Billing is spot on time, conection is good, never had a single down time.... Well I did once when their main exchange thingy fucked up and died, but 2 hours later up and running again

I'm with pipex 23 quid a month for 512k the only downtime I've had was due to a fault with BT equipment (typical)

In answer to your question about the extension cable, it shouldn't make any difference, my DSL is on the end of a 20 metre extension cable and I still get top speeds. If you think about it, it's only another section of phone cable, the same type of cable that goes all the way to the BT exchange! So providing you use a reasonable extension cable you should be fine.

I'm sitting at the end of a 15 metre extension.... no problems there either

Cheers for the info lads. I have just had to buy another length of extension cable but its good stuff so when the broadband gets connected i will let ya know.
