Yet more PC strife.....

Right gals n girls, another quezzy from uncle sirius.....

Since reinstalling windows XP over the top of my corrupted one last week (and all my programs again), for some reason ANY file operation on the c: drive partition is flakey. Ie if I try and open an image file it hangs the program and you have to do the three finger shuffle to get out of it......copy is ok, delete hangs the computer totally.
Also my mouse pointer is finding 'sticky' points on the screen where it drags rather than skirts across - sort of like theres splodge of glue in some areas, its not the same places every time though.

Any ideas what the score is here?/.

Cheers again,

Sirius.

Is there an easy way to 'snapshot' all your devices in a list, cos Id post 'em here if anyone knows about this conflict stuff.

It looks like Ill have to try and back up onto cd's via a netwok cable onto Cd's because the CDRW drive is on my brothers machine........he has no hard disk real estate to move everything accross. Im assuming a low cd burn speed is best (even though it has buffer prevention) perhaps about 6x?

This is a job for the weekend (yes another weekend fannying about with my 'puter).

I dunno what it is, perhaps its all the software I load on or something. Perhaps Ive a virus I keep inadvertantly installing, although the AVG didnt spot anything.

I did a system restore point when I reinstalled last week, so I may try that to cure the immediate problem of sticky points and hanging - then back up this weekend.

Cheers

Sirius.
