BIOS Probs

Right me mates got a prob with his PC, restarting frequently

Running XP
Via Chipset Motherboard
Geforce 4 GFX Card....

Hes checked the event viewer and the erorrs being returned every time have been related to ACPI

For example......

663AUA07.BIN
(Asia Site) A07 (12/20/01) 663AUA07.BIN
(Asia Site) Support AMD "Athlon XP 2000+".Fix errors in Windows XP event viewer.Fix install Windows XP failed for nVidia Geforce MX AGP.(For 663AS ULTRA)

So we thought update the bios....went to the manufacturers site of the motherboard and this seems to be a known problem when we have matched serial numbers and model numbers up etc

This is what the download link says on their site

663AUA07.BIN
(Asia Site) A07 (12/20/01) 663AUA07.BIN
(Asia Site) Support AMD "Athlon XP 2000+".Fix errors in Windows XP event viewer.Fix install Windows XP failed for nVidia Geforce MX AGP.(For 663AS ULTRA)

So we thought download this fix and it should solve it.....

Right the file is a .BIN file, what the fuck do you do with it to update the bios and sort it???

Any help please? (Fug )

OK.. here goes

First, you need 2 things: (a) The BIOS update (.bin file) and (b) flash utility/installer (usually called AFLASH or AWDFLASH).

Second you need to create a bootable floppy for your system. Can't remember how to do it under XP but if you have a look at http://www.bootdisk.com/ then you'll find one ready to use.

You then need to copy the .bin and the flash utility onto the floppy and reboot the system with the floppy in and follow the instructions which should say something like "Update flash memory from file" or "update system BIOS".

Some notes... if it lets you backup your old BIOS then do it. Make a not of your CPU Mhz before you begin.

Just had a look at the URL you supplied and it seems the flash utility can be grabbed from http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/downl...s/Awdflash.exe
