Word 2000 - Printers

Trying to get sense out of the MS newsgroups is frikkin impossible, and seein' as you lot are smart-*rses, I thought I'd ask yer this one...

Is it possible to 'assign' a printer to a document?

I've got 2 printers, the default is a laser, the other an inkjet.

Some documents I only ever have to print out on the inkjet, so....

Is there any way I can 'set' THESE documents so that they will use the inkjet, not the default printer, without me having to select it manually?

Seems a bit lazy, I know, but it'll make my life a lot easier.

Alternatively, a command line instruction to do the same would do.

Cheers peeps.

You'll deffo be able to do it via a macro mate. I've done a similar thing in Access for the exact same reason I think. That was 3-4 years ago though and whatever the current version of office was then. Be nice to think they've made it easier..!

Something like ActivePrinter = "\\mydomain\myprinter" will do it in a VBA macro.

An easy tip would be to record a macro going through the motions of selecting the other printer and printing out. Then have a look at the code and see what Word has recorded.

Jeez...

That sounds MUCH too complicated lol

I'll stick to selecting the printer from the print menu.

Cheers anyway

Try opening each document, printing to the required printer and then saving the document again (even though there are no changes).

This should make that document print to the last printer you selected before you saved it.

Hope this helps

p.s.
It's hard work selecting a different printer each time innit ! (LOL)
