Help with setting pc up for mixing

I have a 1700xp athlon pc. I want to use traktor v1.06 to mix mp3's with. I also have a ac97 onboard sound card and a muse lt pci card (cheap i know).

I have tried to configure traktor to use one card as a master and one as a monitor but althought it lets me select them only one works. I also need to know if by installing a pci card does that dis able my onboard and if so can i enable it to work along side the other one.

ask sped mate, he used traktor with 2 sound cards for ages

You might need two seperate soundcards - some onboard jobbys don't like working with others of the same (Soundcards, Video etc.).

try borrowing/buying another soundcard and disable the onboar one.

apparently traktor 2 u cant use two sound cards with it

u can with 1.6 tho

but ya can have one speaker as monitor and one as the live on traktor 2.....thats what i do now and its alright if yerv got a long enough lead to put one speaker over the other side of the room
