Question FAO Tigger

M8 is there anyway to easily generate a simple swf file by combining a straight forward 5 second gif with a sound file (mp3, wav etc etc), using Flash MX (latest version).... ?

I pressume there is an easy approach but Im fecked if I can get my head round it today

Yeah - create a new movie. Set it's size to the size of the gif.

Create 3 layers.

1st Layer
Import the gif image into the first layer (Import from 'file' menu)

2nd Layer
Import the audio (same way as you imported the gif) open up the library (ctrl+L) drag the sound file onto the second layer. Specify the number of times you want the sound to loop in the properties box at the bottom.

3rd Layer
Select the 1st frame press F9 to bring up the actionscript dialogue and put in a 'Stop' action.
(this stops the movie from continuously loooping and playing the aduio file multiple times at the same time)

Then export the swf using the file menu.

I hope your not thinking of doing a musical sig though cos when there's more than one instance on a page it'll play multiple versions slightly out of sync and sound terrible!

Right Ive got my 27second sound file bound to my image (image is static, it dont move btw) and what I want now is for the sound file to loop continuosly...which I dont seem to be able to do.

How do I go about it ?

Im after a fixed image with a continous background soundtrack if you cath my drift.

Cheers tigs.

Click on the keyframe with the soundfile in it and look at the bottom of the screen at the properties box.

There's a loop option there that you can set.

OK then, the stop action might be interfering.

Delete the layer with the sound file in.

Create a new symbol (Ctrl+F8) choose 'movie clip' give it a name and press ok.

Drag the soundfile from the library (Ctrl+L) into the new movie clip and specify 99 loops; sync mode: start ; effects:none in Properties

Click 'Scene 1' in the bit between the edit area and the timeline to go back to your main movie.

Drag the movie clip with the sound in it from the library into a new layer.

Export.
