CD Writing

I am trying to write music files which are .mpga and am unable to do so. I presume that this is becasue they are not in mp3 format.

How do I alter the extension so I can write to cd?? I have streambox ripper if this is the best/only way to do it, although I havent tried to get my head around it yet.

Help!!!! Please.

What the hell are .mpga files?
A quick search on google came up with this..

If you have a cd burner you can burn mpga files as mp3 files.Once you have a mp3 file on disc, you can convert it to wave format.I will enumerate how to do this. Firstly you will need a cd burner, burner software,a cd-rw disc and mp3 to wav converter software.I recommend you use Remixer mp3 to wav converter, you can download it for free at-URL-(http://www.remixer.com/downloads.htm),this converter beats the Music Match Jukebox converter,it has no ads,no bullshit.I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 software.Other burner software should work.If not,try and download Adaptec for free on the net. Once you have everthing ready, open up your burner software to record data files, not audio files.mpga files are only reconised as data, not audio files.Once you have opened up the data recording software, add the mpga file to be recorded onto a cd-rw disc. Before you burn the file, highlight it and right click on your mouse, next go down the list and press rename. Now go back to the file and rename your mpga file as an mp3 file.Like this EGBeatles - Hey Jude.mpga) is changed to this;(Beatles - Hey Jude.mp3).Just delete ga from mpga and put in 3 and you can't go wrong. The computer can't tell the difference and the file extension will change to an mp3 audio file once you burn it to cd.If you have no luck doing this,go to your original mpga music file, highlight it,right click on your mouse, click on properties, look at the attributes section and disable everthing, next press apply and try to burn again with the renaming modifications. If everything has gone well and you have burned a mp3 file onto a cd,you can go to the next step and use Remixer mp3 to wav converter to convert the mp3 from the cd into a wav file you can save on your hard drive.Remember www.remixer.com. I know my method is a bit drawn out and doesn't directly save mp3's on a hard drive, but you can always use realplayer to add the mp3 from disc to your hardrive. For the layperson,my method is a hell a lot easier to use than playing around with Ms-Dos Commands to change file extensions. Good luck creating mp3's.For free Mpga audio files you can convert to mp3's,check out (http://www.bigsexyphil.net/mp3.html) I've already stolen one of their mpga songs, converted it to a mp3 and wav file and burnt it to cd.Way to go.Go get some.

Just go download Media Wizard 7.0, it will convert any/all files from one flavour to the next...even video.

As far as I am aware there is only one way to convert live rm streams to other formats and thats using Total Recorder as that records whatever is sent to the sound card regardless of the source. This makes it probably the only way to convert a stream from a protected source (and is how I got the prodigy set!).

Get it here (and make sure you read my warning below first!!!!):

http://www.highcriteria.com/productfr.htm

You need to set it up in it's options to record directly from the sound card to make it work.

TBH It's a lot more complicated than streambox ripper which is the best way of converting .rm files if you have the actual files and are not streaming them live, just drag and drop the .rm file onto the streambox window and it'll do the rest!

** SERIOUS WARNING **

Whilst the package I mentioned above, Total Recorder, does the business as far as recording streams that would otherwise be impossible to grab - it fecks up your system no end! Video's won't play, games won't have sound, winAMP will claim something else is using the soundcard and resetting the computer doesn't fix it!!!!!!

The only way I could sort it was by uninstalling Total Recorder and resetting the machine! Only use this software as an absolute last resort!!!!!
