The Shellys Airhorn Returns To Stoke!!

Had to write a review after attending this night last saturday!!!

Wasnt quite sure what to expect really but i was blown away!!! walked into what i thought was a nice small bar with karma mbaby and then dionne come get my lovin being blasted out which kinda surprised me as wasnt expecting to walk in and hear those as the 1st couple of records... kinda wanted to get stuck in from the off then i was told that the main room was upstairs and hadnt been opened yet lol so at about ten ish peeps started to arrive and everyone trundled upstairs into another dark room larger that that downstairs with teirs and platforms for everyone to dance on, was a dark dark place but like WA1 in Warrington but the soundsystem was immense couldnt beleive what i was seeing - soon as the place opened upstairs the platforms had been jumped on and folk were just having it!!!

pete bromley warmed up and then dave seamen came on and took the fooking roof off with all hosts of quality quality tunage playing the biggest of shellys classics and also some great beasties from his renaissence days too! not a stich dropped and his accapella work was totally amazing! none of us stopped dancing all night and they even had a really convenient location for the ciggy area just by the fire exit with heaters and it really didnt feel like you were leaving the room as you as you could still hear the music

What made it for me tho was seeing all these heads having it just as a they used too on the platforms and the DJs tearing it up with the traditional AIRHORN that largely i associated with shellys alone couldnt have been a better night if they had tried

lost our legs at 3 ish and came home and got pissed which was the only thing left to do lol trying to come down from the greatest night ive had in some time!!!

I hope they have another reunion based on the success of this one as i will be sure to get my arse back down there

Got to agree with Northern Star, it was a truly ace night. We arrived there about 10ish as every classics night that i have been to at satchmo's in the last year has been rammed and by the time i have dragged my ass there the bouncers are refusing to let anyone else in.
Got upstairs about 10.30 and can say that i never sat down til my feet gave up about 3.15!! Pete Bromley is an absolute legend He can turn his hand to any style!! He played some absolute corkers on the night and he even played a few Golden classics.
I have to say that i was a bit let down by Dave Seaman though, he played every record right to the end and let them run out as if he forgot how to mix and then forgot that it was a shelleys night and played some new stuff. He did play some crackers tho, stuff that i havent heard in years - Crazy man by Blast and of course he had to play some of his remixes....eurythmics comes to mind I was even expecting a 'clock strikes upon the hour' when Dave S dropped Leftfield- Not forgotten and i saw pete B rushing about the dj box cueing up a record, but he played always there accapella instead. (Pete has been known to recreate this Sasha mix and others on classics nights !!)
Highlight of my night was when Pete Came back on the decks and played 'let there be house' over The b sides........OMG, everyone went mental.
Havent been out in ages and if i only have to go out for one night a year then this would be it.
Northern Star - The next classics night will be easter Bank holiday Sunday as Reckless hold old skool classics nights there every Bank Holiday, but they dont always have a guest dj on. It is well worth it, but get there early as it is normally rammed in there. I think the reason that Saturday wasnt as full was because it was in between crimbo and NYE

There were a few lads that i knew from my kinetic days there but i never went to Shelleys (over 18's anyway lol). There were a few oldies there though. To be honest, the crowd at Moe's are a good lot anyways, always well up for it and i cant ever recall a bad night there on a retro night. The reckless dj's usually dj on a bank holiday, they are Pete Bromley, Lee Fredricks (AKA Mc Lethal / get down of them speakers/ Rave digger etc etc) and others that i cant remeber the names of at the mo. Its the 3rd shelleys night they have had there, the last 2 were shelleys v entropy nights and Altern 8 guested on those. (Is guested a word!???) I only went to the first altern 8 night and that was an absolute stormer too
I will miss the next one in easter cause i will be on my holidays but should be deffo there for the May BH night

My hubby was the one who either your friend / boyfriend (tall guy with dark hair) was talking to and shaking hands alot with, dancing right opposite. My hubby had a black top on and has a shaved head. I was dancing next to him. He said that the guy that he was talking to wasnt from round here so that was a lucky guess but ive since shown him your profile pic (hope you dont mind) and he said that it was deffo you, so i have sort of met you lol....Hello again

By sensible i take it you dont mean "ask sasha"

I would love to hear anyone really...we were saying that we would love to hear a parky or whitehead set from yester year (particularly the Golden days!!) but really anyone would suit me fine. Could i add one thing tho - can they not play show me love by Robin S as it goes thru me
