Roy Ayres @ Mint Lounge

Has to be the best Tuesday night I've had out in years!!

Watched City storm into the quarter finals, tyhen on to the Mint Lounge to watch the fantastic Mr Ayres.
Absolutely top drawer to see him live and Jammin with the band who looked liked they'd all had afro's especially for the occasion!! Quality.
Anyone who has his own personlised Old Skool Puma tracksuit cuts it in my book!

Would highly reccomend if you get the chance to see him

Very nice venue, used to Planet K but they've tarted it up a bit since then.

Roy Ayres is funk/jazz/bluesy/soul. If you've ever heard the Nu Yorican Soul Album by Masters at Work, he collaborates on that with them. Best known stuff is probably Runaway, Everybody loves the sunshine? Just ace to watch a big jam with trumpets, guitar, keyboards etc. Quality

I saw Roy Ayers at the Irish Centre Leeds in 1992. Absolute class! doing tracks like Running Away & Everybody Loves the sunshine Live. Really has to be one of the best gigs I've been to! It's great when he comes on and introduces his band (All seasoned pros). I recommend his greatest hits 'Roy Ayers-A Shining Symbol' totally awesome. His Running Away 12" with Ubiquity is one of my most prized records, and gets the odd play at the end of the night! Ed

Edited for grammatical error...I getting worse

Yeah he's just released a Ubiquity remix album, with mixes from Kenny Dope, Jazzy Jeff few others. Will be buying I think!
