Goldfrapp at Manchester Apollo

Went to see these last night and Im sorry to say that I was really disappointed

I was really looking forward to seeing them and also to see what Allison was going to be wearing, cos generally I think she looks pretty cool

Well she came out in what (to me) looked like the valance from her nans bed!!! It was draped round her shoulders like a cape lol!!! Personally I thought she looked terrible

Im not doubting that they are musically very talented and professional and Allison has got a really nice voice, but their stage presence was abismal I might aswell have been listening to them on a cd in my living room!! I think it was the last but one song that she actually acknowledged that she was singing a live gig and there was an audience there to entertain!!!

I can think of 3 songs that they played that actually got me jigging my arse a bit! The rest of the time I was bored shitless! I even went to the loo for a break from the boredom!!

If it wasnt for the fact that they had some semi clad dancers to entertain you visually, I probably wouldnt have taken any pics!

So Im sorry Goldfrapp, as cool and as talented as you are, I wont be choosing to see you live again


But to end on a positive note the support band were bloody briliant They were called Hot Chip and they were fantastic! They reminded me of New Order come Kraftwerk lol!! They had me dancing to every song that they played They might not have been as tight as Goldfrapp, but their humour and stage presence more than made up for it They would be someone that I would deffo see again

Oh Sweet Im proper gutted to read this post about Goldfrapp as Ive been going crazy & Banging on about them to all that will listen over the last 18 months or so and think there are proper good!

So when I heard you was going I was really envious to say the least as I didnt even know they were touring.... I thought that they would have been absolutley awesome to watch live on stage....

Dont get me wrong SJ, I think Goldfrapp are really talented and I like their music, it was just their stage presence that was crap!

There was no interaction with the crowd at all. I was looking aorund at the crowd and hardly anyone was dancing

They might aswell have been in a studio on their own!!!

I dont know whether it was cos it was Sunday lol and everyone inc Goldfrapp were knackered!! Or whether it was cos Id seen The Go Team on Wednesday and they had just blown me away!

Was a shame really cos I was really looking forward to it.

Did she sing live Sweet? If so how was she?

I love her sound so much.. Its so individual mixed in with a latter day sound of "T-Rex" but a female version Thats just my thoughts any way and Im so inspired that you actaully have now seen them live!

When I go to see a live concert, I expect some audience participation, but there wasnt any!!?? She didnt even say what song she was singing!!!

There was no encore either

They are a good band, but if I saw them live again, I would want to be sat on a nice comfy couch with a drink in my hand and have them there as background music

They've got that whole I'm too cool for skool and "I don't give a shit" thing going on haven't they??? I loooooooooooooove Goldfrapp.....their "Black Cherry" Album (2) is faaaaar better than their current album (3) IMO. LOL One of the lines in it...is "Wolf Lady, sucks my brain" LOLOLOL Love it. There is some reeeeeally sexy tracks on that album though

Exactly! Tbh I havent heard a great deal by them, but I really like her so when I saw they were touring I thought hey why not, lets see what else theyve got to offer!!

Id like to here some more of their stuff, cos inspite of what I said I do like their music
